I don't understand how Richey got so thin.

If you compare pictures of the Manics when they first came along to THB era, Richey obviously looks alot thinner in THB pictures. Everyone says he was half-anorexic, but all of the Manics books say he was drinking a litre of vodka a day plus jacket potatoes, grapes and chocolate. I mean a bottle of vodka must have about 2000 calories. I don't understand how he can have lost so much weight consuming that much. I know he was working out, but still.

throwing it up afterwards? Plus, he could easily be eating that much and exercising loads and still get really thin. Easily done.

I don't think he was only 'half' anorexic. Plus, he probably wasn't eating healthy quantities of those things you mentioned every day.

What Hanna said. He might have had the food available but that doesn't mean he was consuming it healthily.

My vodka is calorie free....he was probably drinking calorie free vodka anyway. Grapes are sugar but mostly water. potatos are carbs, so he would burn that off with a lot of exercise which I think he was doing then. You could also get a potato that has less than 200 calories pretty easily. chocolate can be burned off with his exercising too, since it would be burned off because its sugar. The amount he ate probably wasn't very much either... There are three types of starvation. the most dangerous one and the one that will produce a great deal of weight loss in the shortest amount of time is acute starvation, which is 500 calories or less a day. His diet could easily be less than 500 a day.

Bulimics are mostly normal weight so it's rather very hard to discover their illness if they're clever enough. But if it's combined with anorexia, well... I can't say, I have no idea how progressed his eating disorders were.
