Louder?

I was at the Barrowlands gig last monday, and having seen the manics there before and at edinburgh corn exchange, I thought maybe it could have been a bit louder....well, a lot louder really. I was wondering if the other gigs on the tour so far have been loud as hell or if it's just my gig attendence taking its toll on my hearing.

I think it depends on the venue. Leeds seemed to be louder than Cardiff, although maybe that's because I was permanently deafened at Leeds.

It really depends on the venue... Do they have their own sound guy or not? At the venue I work, some of the sound guys we use when the band don't have their own are notorious for being either too loud or not loud enough.

was at leeds and if it was any louder i would have burst an ear drum.
I could still hear a buzzin 3 days later, although there is nothing worse than a
quiet gig

my ears are still ringing from Glasgow, but at least they are not completley fucked like they were from leeds on the PPF tour, that was really bad, in fact by half way through the gig all i could hear as bass and a squeak which was james singing

Well, judging by some of the responses in this thread, people really should.

Ears ringing/buzzing/hurting, not being able to hear properly, etc = BAD. YOUR EARS ARE BEING DAMAGED. NOT COOL.

I go a shitload of gigs (often loud metal ones), and if I didn't have ear-plugs I'd be substantially deafer than I am. I already have trouble hearing people talk when in loud places; which I attribute to the loud gigs I went to as a young teen and stood at the front of the gig thinking myself 'cool' for enduring being sonically blasted for 3 hours.

I also find that at loud gigs, you can actually hear BETTER through ear-plugs, and the sound sounds clearer.

My ears are still ringing from the PPF tour, and I've long since given up any hope of the ringing ever going away. TheSilentMan is right. Not only do earplugs allow you to hear live music better, but they will also save you from a potential lifetime of tinnitus and, consequently, long periods of insomnia and misery.

Barely anyone ever takes any notice of the warnings until it's too late, though.

Leeds uni gigs always seem to be really loud; the Manics gig on the PPF tour there was as well, my ears were ringing for about 3 days after both. Not good really.
