There are legal issues associated with contests that may not either be the same in another country/jurisdiction or even exist ay all. I've worked on setting up contests on behalf of clients before and believe me, they are massively restricted.
Still, that may not be the case in this situation. Perhaps they want to keep the level of entrants at a minimum due to the amount of tickets. Also, it looks like they're planning a full-on British assault with this next album (nothing new there )...makes sense for them to focus on that country.

Still they could have done this in the new Coal Exchange, clwb, Barfly, The Gate, the Globe or Millenium Music Hall in Cardiff to make up for a lack of a proper tour date in the capital of their home country. Ho hum.

I'd say though if its an album launch gig on top of the competition it'll be mostly for press etc to 'launch' the album, and the music business has always been London centric so if you want to play to them you've got to play where they are.
