Fuck that. 90% of the fuckwits in the crowd wouldn't know good music if it hit them in the face and knocked it clean off.

Brixton Academy holds nearly 5,000 people. That's enough I think for something like special like a THB gig.

so many familiar faces in the audience. shame they didn't show This Is Yesterday, it's always special. the new material sounds great live, especially Anthem.
Why would it have to be for 400 people? If it was at a smaller venue they could play it for 3 nights or even tour it, it would well out.
Even the 02 would make it more accessible to true fans.
Glastonbury is full of idiots who really, really won't understand it!
It's a ready made crowd but that would prove it's all about money!

Nope, fuck Glastonbury this HAS to be for the fans

For the record I think it's a stupid idea, it just shows how daft Nicky is.

You don't have to get so uptight though

Most FMFs are uptight, I'm just continuing the trend

Three things.

1. They never said Glastonbury would be the only place they performed it.

2. It won't actually be all that good. We already know that Sean can't even do PCP anymore. Mausoleum may as well be done as an instrumental; JDB couldn't get through the chorus back in 1994.

3. I can't remember the third thing. Probably something about Richey.

I don't want to hear about 'situationist spectacle' or 'subversion' because Glastonbury goers just ain't intelligent enough to realise they're being subverted

Arghh I've never been pissed off with em before - but I'm probably getting wound up over nothing Wire ain't that stupid is he? IS he?

Entire THB at Wolves Civic! You know you want to James!

If they really do want to do it venues like that are the way forward as a mini tour like the PPF tour - the Hammersmith Apollo was the best ive ever seen them

Dancing Kirby's first point one is a good one. I am casting a sidelong eye at the all things that were promised of Festival No. 6 right now.

Still, gonna speculative-ramble in agreement with others' points. I can appreciate there being poignance in playing THB 20 years on, but why does it have to be at Glastonbury? The THB gigs they've always seemed to speak of with most reverence were the Astoria gigs, and yes they would have been more painful, but if they're going to play THB they're going into painful territory anyway. Obviously the Astoria is no more, but if they're really going to do this thing, surely it would be more poignant - and make the pain more worthwhile - to play it to people who give a fuck. Of all the things that deserve doing right, surely this is THE thing. And without fleecing or pricing people out.

I'm fairly sure Nicky must be trolling. He's probably getting someone to log on now so he can giggle at us. Goddamnit Wire.

Damn that reserved right to contradict. IT'S HARD ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN TO TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY AS IT IS. I haven't actually seen this yet, so I'm going to presume he was joking. Please to have been joking, Nickly. ;___;
Wire's always been full of shit, doubt it will happen but I think it's harsh to call it a fuck you to the fans. As much as they apologise for their existence and react against themselves, they can't please everyone. I don't expect them not to play album sets, greatest hit sets or whatever. They're only a band, if they want to do something why shouldn't they?

The greatest album ever deserves better than to be heard live by a bunch of idiots who in the most part are only there so they can show off to people who can't afford to go or missed out on tickets.
I never begrudge the Manics doing anything - festivals, shit TV etc 'cos I truly feel that's what they really are about but Glastonbury?!! Load of wank and for the first time ever I would be unhappy as a fan

Oh come on. I wouldn't dream of enjoying it, I'm only going to stop someone else. Quite a sense of entitlement you've got going on there .

Aye, nothing's decided, all we've got is speculation. Might not happen at all, might be a night at Glasto and a couple elsewhere. They're going to get criticised no matter what. If they do Manchester and not London they're cunts, if they do an arena they're sell outs, if they do intimate gigs they're saying fuck you to the fans cos not everyone can go. They can't win.
