My copy arrived today.
Have to say, I’m surprised at the pessimism on this record by people.
I like the fact that you have to kind-of work out Manics albums these days. I enjoy that process; getting to know the record, then I make a decision quite late in the day. Feels like people instantly like or dislike in this digital age, as if we all need an instant assessment.

I love the fact that RTF made me work, and get to know it. I hate the fact that we know (almost) exactly what to expect from Futurology.

cracked and went for the leak to tide me over until the CD Japan shipment arrives. enjoying Divine Youth and Misguided Missile more than I thought I would from the promo film. balanced with getting the baby down so it's all been a little background so far, proper first listen will come in the car on monday morning.

They've played 4; 2 (Eurpa, Futurology) regularly, added Let's Go To War for the last couple of UK dates, then replaced it with Walk Me To The Bridge for Europe. That is not the setlist of promoting a new album. I concede it may not happen til early next year, but it will.

And it looks like it'll be a little later than Monday to get a copy as real life crap has shot up! No worries, may as well see if I can get the deluxe instead.

I'm getting over to the Emerald Isle to see my folks in August and looking forward to actually walking into a local record shop and buying it. Kinda regret not getting the signed deluxe edition now.

Misguided Missile is like Radiohead verses having it off with a Biffy Clyro chorus.

Blistered Mirrors wouldn't be out of place on the final Oasis album. A Noel song, not a Liam one, except Noel would have doubled its length. All hail Noel.

Blistered Mirrors sounds like something off the White Album After the 40 seconds at least, before that it sounds like James is going to sing Buffalo Soldier or something

It's kasabian-lite to my ears and the Beatles.

This album is so bloody good! Best since Lifeblood in my humble opinion. Faves so far after my first few listens are Moscow, Let's Go To War, Black Square, Futurology, Walk Me To The Bridge and Misguided Missile.

How has everyone got the album already???? Guess my copy from Amazon will turn up by mid next week, but should get an MP3 version of it according to their site although I need to figure that out how it works.

Overall I like the album. I love that the band is doing something different again and seem to have enjoyed making it. It was good to hear that James wrote the lyrics to The Next Jet to Leave Moscow.

A few really good tracks on there, but I absolutely hate the guest vocals on Divine Youth. I don't think I've ever disliked a Manics song as much as I dislike this one. I also hate the guest vocals on Between the Clock and the Bed, but otherwise I really like the song.

This is based on the sampler though, so perhaps I'll come to like them once I hear the songs in their entirety.
