Who didn't buy the album?

Let's be clear I've bought every MSP album pretty much twice not including PFAYM, RTF and F. I don't play CDs anymore and I don't own an LP player. I pay a monthly subscription to a streaming service and that's where I can enjoy Futurology as of now.

A/ Did anyone go the same route...?
B/ Do you think I'm missing out on anything?

I like a physical copy of my music. I'm old and have had to buy many formats of many records/CDs/downloads. It gets expensive to buy the same product multiple times. I like the ideas of a streaming service and of the 'cloud', but I do wonder about sustainability. Do I go to another cloud when that one closes or is bought by another cloud.

I also do not like to be monitored and marketed to.

The streaming service is convenient, and it'll probably be the way of the future as most likely physical music will become obsolete or just something that collectors will purchase.

Well my friend, you are clearly the future of music consumption!
Best of luck with it, but I'm still stuck in my ways and prefer physical products.
And the travelling to shops. But this will happen to us soon one day.

I didn't. I listened and didn't like what I heard enough to drop £10 on a copy.

I got a copy of the leak for the weekend, my iTunes download arrived last night (yes, it is actually 'charting' in Canada), and I will pop over to HMV next week* to pick up the deluxe physical copy.

*just looked at the album availability and the release has been pushed to the 15th.

Will continue to buy physical products until the day they stop selling them. I'll die out with the last of the fucking dinosaurs, I don't care.

I don't really listen to music whilst sat at a computer, and streaming is shit anyway

What do you get by having all the editions?

Are you a collector by nature?

Are MSP the only band you would purchase this way for?

I bought from Japan for a physical copy, downloaded the leak in an eventual fit of impatience over the weekend, bought the £5 download off 7digital on Monday just to make that mp3 version a little more "official" (for the sake of a fiver I don't mind doubling up on purchased formats).

but yeah, other than this, about 90% of my music consumption is now digital (primarily Amazon, for their large capacity cloud storage, 7digital for their weekly bargains, occasionally iTunes for exclusive bonus tracks). of the remaining 10% of consumption, probably an even split, 5% physical, 5% streamed.

when buying physical, I try to go for vinyl, especially if it's limited / coloured etc - and preferably comes with an official download code. hardly ever play them, but they're nice to look at.

cds have to be very special for a purchase: a nice box set, good packaging, cheaper than buying the download... I don't see the point in spending £10+ on cds in a standard jewel case any more (especially those that come with a puny folded card booklet)... so no, generally I don't feel like i'm missing out on too much in that aspect nowadays.

It's grand, you just swipe right on your phone and you can store any music you might want when having no access to wifi/3/4g etc.. Then just Bluetooth/aux to your speakers or use headphones.

It is simply handy as fuck, You pretty much have an endless supply of music at your fingertips constantly.

I didn't get the signed deluxe version and I really really regret it.

If anyone has a spare signed copy then I'd be happy to buy it ASAP.

I'm a completist for the Manics. My dad, a huge stones fan, has spent his life collecting their records and rarities. I am doing the same for the Manics.

Yes, MSP are the only band I go to the lengths I do. I rarely buy music these days unless it is something that has caught my ear.

I prefer to buy a CD, which I can then use to put the files on iTunes and then my iPod. CDs are, to me, simple and multifunctional. I much prefer having a physical copy of an album (or even a movie) to just a digital version/stream. I only tend to download when there aren't too many songs by an artist that I'm really into and don't want to buy a full album from, or when the release is more difficult to obtain, such as Y Niwl's album. I like having vinyls but I hardly ever play them so they're a bit of a luxury.
