It'd be a toss up between Autumnsong and It's not War....

Set list - https://twitter.com/FDForum/status/1...705857/photo/1

Complicated illusions does sound quite nice if rather radio 2 I guess.

and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach.
And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face.

We decided to make a last-minute trip down to Portsmouth for this once the Manics were announced. First gig since November 2019 and first Manics gig since Cardiff Castle in May 2019 (I think it was?), so we figured we'd take the opportunity whilst we could and I felt more comfortable with it being outdoors.

After so long without live music, I don't really get the setlist complaints tbh, especially at a festival that they were last-minute headline replacements for, so it's not even like the majority of the tickets were sold to people wanting to see them. I honestly felt like I'd been punched in the gut multiple times whilst they were on stage, as it was just so bloody good to see them again It almost didn't feel real after so long sat at home and memories of past gigs feeling like an increasingly distant dream.

We managed to move on to the barrier in between support bands, as the people in front obviously weren't fussed about the Manics, so that worked out nicely, even if we ended up on Nicky's side, which is not my natural habitat

I quite liked Complicated Illusions and the other new songs sounded good too. Oh and if people were wondering about the lack of updates during the festival, phone signal was practically non-existent the entire time we were there.

Also don't think it was the best organised festival ever, especially seen as my husband tells me someone tweeted saying they snuck in during the Manics' set without a ticket and no one stopped them! So, erm yeah, that's reassuring...or not.

People moaning about covers, Reef ended their set with back to back Duran Duran covers and everyone loved it. Fratellis did Yes Sir I Can Boogie. It's a festival set for the masses. Plus after being denied them for 2 years they could come on and play Behave Yourself Baby 14 times and chuck in a couple of Black Lace covers and I'd've been happy
