Free Shipping On CDJapan until 04/10/10 for Orders Over ¥5000

Thought this might come in useful given the usual costs of shipping things from Japan. Basically until Monday if the order's over ¥5000 (roughly £40) and you pay via Paypal free shipping including the uber fast Fed Ex 1-3 day shipping. I just placed a test order and it works as advertised. Their cheapest postage would usually cost you ¥700 (around £5) for 1-3 weeks delivery and the super speedy one is ¥1800 (around £13) so nice little saving.

Whilst YesAsia is similar price (and offers free postage for orders over $39) it doesn't currently stock Everything Live, the Japanese version of PFAYM or the 2CD reissues of KYE, Lifeblood and SATT.

But if you put in an order over £40 aren't you gonna get stung by customs anyway?

Irritatingly yes. You do have the option of selecting it as a gift during checkout, doesn't guarantee it won't get slapped with customs but may help.

It's a risk, you may get slapped but since customs is 3.5% on CDs if your orders £40 you'd pay £1.50, still cheaper than their normal bargain postage at £5 and you get it in 1-3 days instead of 1-3 weeks.

Now I'm reminded of the problems of skim reading. Re-read the customs page and it turns out it's 3.5% duty AND 17.5% VAT so possibly around £8.50 import duties. Never mind, guess I'll have to pray customs are feeling nice.

You're forgetting that if you get stung, royal mail/parcel force will add 'handling' charges on top too.

I used to use CDJapan for stuff and they were always great, but YesAsia win nowadays because they post you your stuff from within the UK so you don't get the taxes and stuff, it's a no-brainer if they have what you want and the order is over £18.

it would be £1.50 plus the £8 that Royal Mail tag on as a handling charge

Agree with you Porco, unfortunately YesAsia don't stock the items listed in the first post. If anyone wants it CDJapan or HMV Japan are the only ones I know that still stock them.

Full listing for the 2CD Japanese reissues in this thread. The Lifeblood listing's slightly inaccurate (acoustic tracks were cut) and I think there may be one or two other errors but it's at least 90% accurate.
