Every now and then a song grows on me on the album and it becomes less shit as a result. But Golden Platitudes, I still hate it. I've been listening to the album solidly for a week now, and Golden Platitudes and Auto-Intoxication both repulse me, bit stranger things have happened than for me to suddenly love them. Watsville Blues took absolutely ages, but one day it just clicked and I really liked it

I do like Nicky's writing. His input to the last two albums have been really good, and I enjoyed his solo album. I'll still take James and Sean as the main maestros though.

This. Good to hear an extra side to the songwriting though!

No harm in expanding your horizons. When is James gonna get a go on the the drums?

Sean probably has a 24 hour guard on his drumkit anyway.

He can also kill a man by playing his drumbeat (everyone has a natural drumbeat kind of like a resonance, people like Sean can tap into it and by playing the sequence in double time can disintegrate them at a molecular level)

Some say he can kill ducks at 200m with an irregular paradiddle, or that it was a blast from his trumpet that brought down the walls of Jericho - all we know is... he's called Sean.

I just can't get into Nicky's songwriting though, it always seens very cumbersome and plodding. There are two songs I really don't like from PFAYM - not surprisingly they're Golden Platitudes and SKON. They're not bad songs, I just don't like them. I don't like William's last words, I don't like IKTZ. Not that they're bad, just not my thing. Having said that, I would love to hear them do IKTZ together one of these gigs, maybe with James singing.
