Imagine in the Manics split up after, say the Millenium gig, and announced their comeback instead of the Stone Roses. How much fuss you think there would be?

Honestly, I don't think we could know. They were huge then and fuck knows we could use the sort of band who writes songs like Tolerate or ADFL now, so a return in the midst of the Tory comeback, the recession etc to give us another great polemic statement would have been pretty damn heroic... but if they came back to give us the likes of PFAYM and to appear on Strictly, then obviously it would be a different kettle of fish.

Wasn't a gap between Journal and Postcards but both albums have done well so not too sure about that reasoning!

it's not. That ad will have been decided on a while ago and there've been other bands that have come back ..not just the roses. I said on the previous page that it probably refers to the fact that they've lasted so many years without splitting. Whatever..it's not malicious
