Yeah backing instruments means James can do some immense fret wankery, which is certainly worth it
But the key boards can sometimes sound terrible. You Love Us, Masses Against the Classes....

When bands have a keyboardist who isn't part of the band, they usually leave the stage when they're not required - that should definitely be the case with whoever's playing keys for the Manics!

Haha yeah that bit did make me laugh, if it's that monsterous I'd expect it to last 30 seconds! I haven' heard the Manics on the station since well before the SATT era.

I heard a snippet of the lead single on red dragon FM earlier today, about 30 seconds worth and it sounded brilliant. Lots of piano, falsetto vocals, queen-esque delivery, a MONSTEROUS solo.

actually, i really hope this is true - if all of that was in a random 30 seconds off one track, this album will be as equally fucking mental as it is fucking excellent.

That link also says that John Cale chap plays guitar on 3 songs.
I expect the single and music video to start appearing in the next 2 weeks sometime.
