As far as I'm concerned, he played piano on Virginia State Epileptic Colony and on the demo of This Joke Sport Severed.

VSEC is Eringa (like on a lot of stuff, it's either him or Naysmyth with JDB chipping occasionally like on In Eternity where he's credited as the only keyboardist).

Looking at the way he plays on the FDTW, I'd honestly be surprised if he did any of the stuff that was recorded. He looks as if he was self taught judging by way the he's posturing his hands which looks really uncomfortable. Re-imagining, perhaps he does the initial demo tracks and leaves the recordings to the actual pianists.

Still, I'd gladly pay £100 or more for a small intimate gig where James and co rework their songs onto piano.

His technique is certainly very unconventional - I think he's comfortable recording the odd bit of synth but I can't think of any recordings off the top of my where he's played piano. I'll have to have another look on the credits on Discogs.com.

I like that he's now got a newfound confidence in tickling the ivories. My wife did think he was turning into Gary Barlow though and that he'll be doing Vegas style show tune versions of Manics hits next....

Whoops, I'm sorry...but with the TJSS demo I'm almost sure it was him...than in the definitive version the piano has been replaced by strings...

I went and ordered TWO copies of the vinyl (along with a CD).

I was lucky enough to nab the signed vinyl/CD, but with shipments from UK to US taking almost 2 months, I went and ordered the blue variant vinyl (only 300 pressed!) from Rough Trade in the US, which should get to me far sooner. So one black, signed vinyl and one blue one.

I'm really liking what I've been hearing from this album - more so than the last few MSP albums...

I've always wanted to know, for any band or artist really, what percentage of sales for an album is comprised of purchases from brand new fans. Like, I wonder how many people would buy James' album but not be Manics fans (who are of course going to be the largest contribution to the sales) or even aware of him being the Manics frontman, that they'd just heard these songs on the radio and decided to buy the album.

Not a stat that would be easy to piece together, but it would be nice to know that it's not just a handful of people who don't already have an association with MSP

I'd say he'd do well to sell a couple of thousand (and that's with some fans buying multiple) and probably do well to get 50-100 people who have never bought any Manics stuff before.

At the moment, sales for albums aren't that high at all, so James may have a decent chance of just sneaking into the top 10, thus outperforming his debut release I still need to place my order for the CD, will do it once I type this.

I'm sure he'll get some hits through streaming services - only question is if someone looks into the song once it streams for them.

That would be a nice enough realistic number. It would be good to think that a load of promo isn't completely in vain

I like to think the promo hasn't geared up yet. I'd like to see James on The One Show. No idea if that's still a big ratings puller. Later seems out (But there was nothing to stop them doing a stream and chat with James?). It could be more Radio centred.
