they said they weren't going to play any new songs at hyde park but with the Newport gig being on the 13th hopefully they've changed their minds. Would be daft not to play it the day before it's released

Agreed - can't see them not playing this now! Makes a mockery of the whole "exclusive" No. 6 festival claim.

It suits me to be honest, I live in Southend, but am hopefully going to Newport Uni in September, but my accommodation doesn't start till the 15th so I can't go to the Newport gig, and my mate who's going Bristol doesn't really fancy going to the Bristol gig, so i'm having to settle for Hyde Park

Nice!

Reminds me of the happy go-lucky pop of the Lighting Seeds and Boo Radleys back in the mid-90s. Not that i was ever a huge fan of those sort of things, but the Manics have done it right. It's not too over the top and can imagine it being played live. Not sure how it will sit with the rest of the album though, if it's supposed to be so miserable. Then again, they've had their fair share of uplifting-sounding miserable songs in the past. Who knows, either way i'm fucking excited about them for the first time in ages.

How on earth are they going to integrate this songs into a live set though!?

I can definitely imagine Show Me The Wonder being played live, but before and after what!?

Of Walking Abortion, Show Me The Wonder, followed by Revol anyone? haha

It's VERY Boo Radleys (who were one of the few British mid-90s bands the Manics expressed a liking for I seem to recall). I like it, overdoes the trumpet though

Well, James manages to integrate Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, they'll find a way with this one! It may not become a setlist staple, though.

Strange one. Not as immediately enjoyable as Rewind The Film, but lively no doubt. Also just nice to hear a different sound rather than the pub rock we've had in the last... decade.

Love it.

Cheesy, cheery, catchy and James sounds really good. It's a thumbs up for me.
