Ah the fabled "Nebraska" album that was promised for years....until they decided it'd need horns and became RTF

Nice, i like it though i prefer the soaring vocals and music of the original. I'm also wondering if the demos will offer another alternative but an alt-album full of these muted, stripped back versions would be worth having. I also just noticed aimee-ffion edwards is standing on the spectacular giltar point in these vids, i was climbing there a couple of weeks back!

I’d love an album like this, sparse and creaky and creepy.
Wasn't Lifeblood dubbed "The Holy Bible for 30 year olds"?

The Holy Bible or Lifeblood had their worst weeks on chart? Not got stats to hand. Everything else has been mainly 8 weeks.
There is a trend for massive drops on second week. I'm braving the rain Friday. I can't be fifth column second week sales. It's all hands on deck.

Great example, totally agree

Christ, I'm glad I never bought into the multiple version game. I find it disingenuous that there's now a chance of winning music equipment through buying from the band's website. I preordered my copy from an independent record store, not getting anything extra except I'm very minutely supporting a physical shop that is part of a community. The band have always been big supporters of record stores so it just makes sense to buy from them rather than the band's official store which is generally crap and run by a third party with poor customer service.

*I'm not criticising folk who do buy multiple versions from the official store or wherever, more power to ya. But I think the practice has jumped off the deep end this album cycle and it's beginning to feel more and more like exploitation than offering something special to the fans.

Word is the annual MSP official store logistics cockup may mean orders coming late. Third parties unaffected.

Sadly fairly common practice for most labels and bigger artists these days. If people weren't buying multiple versions I daren't think how low sales would be at this point.

I have no problem with collecting - there can be fun found from finding alternate versions and comparing them - but when there are versions that are made simply to ensure collectors buy multiple copies, I really hate it. I wonder how much vinyl goes totally unplayed because it was only bought to sit on a shelf alongside three other colour variants.

I've been thinking about this recently. Do I really need 3 versions of RIF that are simply different colours? The obsessive collector in me says yes. The sane part of me says no, sell some. I've probably only ever played the black version.

So far I've resisted buying the yellow vinyl version of TUVL.

Also I got a shipping notification from the official store. Feels worryingly early for them.

Thing is that MSP have been at that game since their first album - Generation Terrorists had a "super limited edition" picture disc, picture 12"s, all that stuff... it was all made to sell sell sell.

Then you have things like "Masses Against the Classes that will be deleted and never re-pressed"... still available cheaply from all good collecting sites.
