Copies from Banquet Records now come with a ticket for an acoustic show and a Q&A.

I have many questions.

I’m selling one of my copies with an EXCLUSIVE packet of crisps, a FREE can of sugar-free Irn Bru and … er… half a tin of tuna, if you want it. P+P is £80, and it might turn up late and/or damaged, you’ve been warned.

Just saw that email, they're pretty desperate for the number 1 slot eh? I suppose if Mogwai can do it these days then the Manics ought to be able.

Everything the crimson pig just said!

I seem to remember eddy temple-morris interviewing them several times in the past and they do have a good relationship but it certainly sounded like the thing was edited down.
If they hadn't spent half hour on playing the old songs...
Already the days of track by track interviews for their new albums seem to be long gone, got to squeeze in those ads somewhere.

Anyone who thinks this is between the Manics and Steps is both right and wrong. Drake has No.1 in the bag just like he did when he was 8000 behind Iron Maiden’s preorders this time last week.

But considering Steps have had four No.2 albums and think that total makes them ‘the kings and queens of the No.2’, they need to know that this territory is not for the taking. There is an honour to be defended here that’s more important than No.1.

Hence why they’re trying to back-fill the week with all these live sets/posters etc - leaving a gap allows more of the faithful to buy another copy

Well we’re in the fairly interesting situation where if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it could be Steps inventing a new dance, or the Manics going for a swim at Tenby, or Drake getting No.1.

No.1 will be:

‘And the rain came down / so, so hard / like a fearless / punk mallard…’

It could well be ducks who listened to Drake.

Still, we should take a moment to reflect on the bit in the article about the previous battle between the Manics and Steps.

Quote:
In September 1998, Manics’ This Is My Truth Now Tell Me Yours beat Steps’ Step One to the top spot by a huge margin of 95,000 sales.
That difference alone is more than the combined ‘sales’ of Drake and Iron Maiden last week. Drake doesn’t actually sell much at all in reality. I’m pretty sure he and Ed Sheeran must have bot farms streaming their songs 24/7. Who’s ever met someone who likes Ed Sheeran? I haven’t. He’s been at the top of the singles chart for ten weeks and I’ve managed to not hear his single.

This band really did decide to throw it all away only to spend the last 14 years trying to win back a fraction of those Mondeo drivers.

Drake doesn’t even have physical media out - not even a bile yellow vinyl!

He gets by entirely on Spotify and the odd person (must be a real minority) buying the MP3s for download
