This was my main problem with it. They seemed to run out of ideas a bit. Even some of the lead guitar lines sounded quite similar across the songs.

Both have been three-pieces for long periods. Both with quite similar set-ups etc. Stereophonics were influenced by songs like A Design For Life on their early albums. Both currently living off the success they had in the late 90s (alright, bit harsh that last one ).
Stereophonics last album has spent a year in the charts (top 150)

Perhaps if Nicky's written a lyric as bad as 'Graffiti On A Train' on this record the Manics might have a similar result in terms of Futurology's chart longevity then

Lol, prefer Jones's kitchen sink lyrics to Wire's 'impossible to understand' lyrics anyday, thats what makes them a better band to me.

Loved the little behind the scenes video of the single, I hope they make some kind of follow on video from this single, but who knows. As long as it's a good video is all I ask, keep Nicky's brother away and it's all good

Dr. Gonzo [Very long time fan - 1989 approves Futurology 100% - Phuckin awesome!

As said this album is quite simply awesome and epic. THIS IS THB PART II.

This is the album I've waited 20 years for and it lives up to my dreams and some.......I haven't been this excited about a new MSP album since EMG.

James, Sean, Nicky if you read this be assured this is a MASTERPIECE you have created on a par with the Richey era stuff that was so edgy and unpredictable.

Nicky words have attained the depth and power of Richeys imo. And as for the music - One word......GROUNDBREAKING!

This album will become a future cult classic.

Now go get your military gear on I want gadaffi style outfits and makeup lots of blow em all fuckin away in Glasto this year hike those Amps right up to 10 and ROCK DAT SHIT BOYO's!

Forever faithful and awestruck by your genius!

The Good Doctor.

I assumed as much! I'm familiar with the Phonics' back catalogue and apart from them being a three-piece rock band they're really not that similar. For me they're really not on the same tier as the Manics and that's why these comparisons seem so silly, it's like pitting Coldplay against Radiohead. It's pointless.

For what it's worth I liked Kelly's lyrics in What Gets Around but afterwards, for the most part, they just seemed to blend in with what any other given frontman was singing about.

I'm going to assume Dr. Gonzo has heard the album unless I'm missing something?

Let's try and keep this thread focused on Futurology .

I doubt it considering the lack of detail in his "review" and the abundance of hyperbole.

Lifeblood
Gold Against the Soul
Generation Terrorists

C'mon son. The Manics are an average B-side band, the odd gem but there's no way you could compile a 12 song B side list that could compete with a single one of their albums for quality.
