Its Not War has more comparible lineage to You Stole the Sun than Found That Soul....i think Proevpete would've had more agreement had he said that like KYE when they wanted to rediscover/explore their raw roots from GT this new album is a nostalgia trip harking back to EMG and TIMTT whilst still trying to be creative with a few new fresh ideas.

I liked KYE too and PFAYM is nowhere near that. It's far worse. It's SATT part 2 and a half.

That would have been a better name for the album.

lol Ben. Daniel is right though, what an absurd comparison to make.

KYE was crap and too long, but sort of interesting in some respects. PFAYM is just dull.

I love KYE and Nicky's singing aside I get a feeling that I'm gonna really like Postcards too!

Well KYE is my second favourite Manics album, and from the previews this one comes nowhere near it. So no, i strongly disagree with this post! That said, the next one is more likely to be like KYE when they realise they hate the commercial sound and want to be obscure again.

I think they do both well. The stand-offish punky hard stuff and the more radio-friendly commercial stuff. Everyone's a winner!

How did you come to that conclusion?

Quite simply.
The Manics egos were HUGE after the commerical success of TIMT. They fought they could say fuck you in the music industry and go to Cuba. It cost them 6 years of their careers. Equally now they believe that they can reach some sort of mass communication after being critically acclaimed after their last two albums. They thought they were writing pop greatness yet listen to any interview and after the cold light of day they sound extremely unsure of themselves. Even mentionning "we can be that other band...already we're wanting to go back there" is just a complete cop out. |

They never lost six years for me!
