Third breakpoint for the Manics - no new album for 2 years

So, James said in an interview that the band will not release a new album in the next 2 years, because they need to give the audience a break, and "to stand back and look what everything means again". He calls it the third breakpoint (first after richeys dissapearance, second after Lifeblood) of the band ...

No Greatest Hits, and no 70 songs ...

Now I'll enjoy Pinkpop 1000%, as it seems we won't be seeing them again for some period.

Enjoy the break lads, and come back with a GREAT album. In the Manics we thrust

Good, this is excellent news. I'm glad. They should have taken 2 years off after JFPL to be fair, then maybe PFAYM would have been less of a miscarriage.
They've earned a break, and they need the space to come back with something solid, consistent and original for them.

Yeah, if it helps them then I'm certainly in favour of it. Nicky is a better lyricist when he has more time.

Two years??? Ah well, have a nice break lads but I give James a month before he's back in the studio again! He's already done that remix so wonder what other plans he has up his sleeve? After a 10th album that has been pretty successful and got a big thumbs up from the media they deserve a bit of a break. Look forward to the next solo album James!

To be fair, these days it's pretty good going to average an album every two years. I'll look forward to it anyway.

Weird that he's considering post-Lifeblood to pre-Send Away The Tigers a break. Squeezed in the Past, Present And Future tour, God Save The Manics EP, The Great Western and probably about 20 gigs all in all for that? If he considers that a break he really must be a workaholic! Maybe get another solo album, then.

got mixed feelings about this, quite happy there's no greatest hits 2, but 2 years is a long time!

roll on the Sean Moore solo album.

A follow up to The Great Western would be fabulous! Make it so!

I know that it's the right move, and if they feel like they're doing the right thing, then they should go with it, but...I was really hoping for a 70songs/GH tour...I still haven't see them

I'm pretty pleased. I tended to go to the few gigs I did since 2008 out of some sense of duty more than anything else, and enjoyed less than half of them.

I can't see James taking it too easy. I bet they'll be collaborations or a solo effort in that time.

But this may mean that the Wire will go solo again...

Which interview is this anyway?

A brilliant interview, done at their gig in Holland:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axyZR...i2s8c&index=20

(it has 4 parts, James talking about everything, even the most delicate subjects in the band ..)
