Haven't seen anything to that effect, they always go on to hock their movies and stuff. Nothing ever really personally interesting. Plus, I'm not entirely sure he does the talk show circuit much these days...

this. I asked Ginger about it once, and he said that when they toured with the Manics, they made The Wildhearts feel like twats because the manics were so well-behaved (his words, not mine!) and The Wildhearts were essentially a load of pissed idiots the whole time.

Also, Pete Vuckovic from 3 Colours Red is a massive fan (he was inspired a lot by Richey's lyrics), Chris McCormack (also 3CR) likes their early stuff, and Janne Jarvis (Radiator, Elevation, Hate Gallery) likes them too.

Oh, and Timmy Mallett likes them enough to know the words to You Stole the Sun, cos he was singing along to it at a student night in Newcastle once.

P.S. If anyone remembers Penetration, Pauline Murray really likes them!

That tour with the Wildhearts ( early 1992 ) was my first tour but I didn`t know the Manics then to talk to but they were very naive so I can believe what you said, WoW Penetration !! they play here in Huddersfield a couple of times in 1977, on one occasion they supported Elvis Costello, Generation X ( Billy Idol ) Iv`e still got the Flyposter for that......happy days indeed.

They're still going! They did a tour earlier this year with Stiff Little Fingers. As it happens, Pauline Murray and Rob Blamire run our rehearsal room so I see them every week!

She must be in her 50`s now like myself... I also saw them at Leeds Queens Hall supporting The Stranglers and a group called The Automatics ( from Coventry ) who changed their name the year after to The Specials !!!

Mark Greaney from JJ72 has been talking about them again. Apparently he and James are acquaintances from having toured together and he uses the Faster Studio now and again.

Oh god, not JJ72. Someone I know will have an orgasm when he reads that.

Timmy Mallet likes the Manics! Who'd have thought it?

He picked a couple of Manics videos on Rage (all night music video show on Fri/Sat nights in Australia) a few years back. From memory they were Love's Sweet Exile and If You Tolerate This

I gotta give a cheer for this comment being a longtime Manics and Wildhearts fan. In fact there is a photo of Richey sitting legs folded on a table back stage somewhere holding a rose, and on the wall beside him there is a run down of band stage times with The Wildhearts on support.

Plus JJ72 used to be managed by Martin Hall.

Alan Fletcher (generally known as Karl Kennedy on Neighbours) just tweeted to say:

Manic Street Preachers brilliant tonight. James amazing vocals, Nick best outfit, loved skirt. Who's a fan? Put them in the set?
