I took it a bit more directly than that - as a specific reference to "I'm So Tired" and the themes addressed in the lyrics there - but I like the more general explanation better, and that may well be a more accurate interpretation given the "conveying exhaustion" lyric.

It's "conveying exhaustion" I think. And like you I think the whole John Lennon bit is fine. No, better than fine actually, I think it's pretty good.

And yes, as hummingbird said, I think you mean 'minor quibble'.

I really don't like the line, it just sounds trite. "Oh I'm so exhausted, also isn't John Lennon good? Anyway back to the song"

Sums up my thoughts exactly

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the three (or four) 'ways' to see despair are?

In the shop window while going on about how Bob Marley was a prophet.
On the racks in the shop while going on about Bob Marley was a prophet.
Trying them on and looking at yourself in the changing room mirror while going on about Bob Marley was a prophet.

That's my three ways to see dis' pair (of slacks).

As a song about or inspired by Stuart Adamson, it's abysmal. JDB should have demanded better.
