I like the song, I like it enough to get past the Gartside vocal too. But I’m not a fan of his voice!

I liked the lyric about “still building the bypass in my head” too. I did have a laugh at that one, as I’m sure all Manics fans did!

I do really like Between the Clock and the Bed, but every time I listen to it I can't help the thinking of the following tweak to the lyrics by way of a certain Holy Bible song… (which I just tried cutting together with the actual audio, it works surprisingly well!):

#Hatred and failure go perfectly together
Like the quick and the sand, beautiful and damned
I live through these moments again and again
Repeating images of *PERFECTION, SUNTAN AND NAPALM*

I don't mind the Green Gartside vocal at all, I'm kind of surprised to see all the negative reactions. Then again, my least favorite guest vocal is Nina Persson, so much that I made my own JDB/full band mix of YLAINE.

My favourite on the album by a mile - never heard any Scritti Politti / Green Gartside stuff before, so was a nice surprise for me.

Scritti Politti supported them at Brixton and I didn't recognise a single song except "Woodbeez(?)". Think it's their biggest hit, it's quite catchy too.

This song's grown on me, I didn't like it to begin with but it's grown on me. The last part of the song (where it starts going aaaahhh aaahhhh AHHHH Ahhhhh) is killer. It's a beautiful song really, and when you listen to the Woodbeez tune you'll be amazed how he still sings the same as he did 30 years ago.

Also, the man goes on stage and drinks Guinness. So he can't do any wrong - to a point!

At first I skipped 5 seconds in yet now I actually really like it, so much so that I started it as the shuffle track this morning in the shower.

Possibly because he suffers from stage fright.

The 80s stuff is an acquired taste. The latterday stuff is class.

Green Gartside was on top form (depending on your point of view) at Rough Trade. He had to walk through the crowd before the set started, which was quite funny.

Mentioned it in the other thread but was lucky enough to have a picture taken with him afterwards, nice chap. Looked a bit nervous around the fans, mind you (then again who wouldn't be?!).

Since the gig I've started to see this song in a new like and really like it. Green's voice is a grower, too.

I really liked Scritti Politti's Tinseltown to the Boogiedown, so perhaps I was conditioned to Green's voice. This is one of my favourite songs from the album.

I also really really like the song, one of my favourites and as much as I don't usually like guest vocalists in Manics' songs, here I actually do like how Gartside's voice flows over and blends in with JDB's and imo it fits the atmosphere of the song perfectly.
