What does
That tree meant more to you than love line even mean? Is it the same "cherry blossom tree"? Or is it some other tree?

Dogs love trees anyway, either to piss up or take branches from to chew. If my dog theory is correct, this is automatically my new favourite Manics song of all time. This song + nostalgic home videos of childhood pets = masses caught hook, line and sinker. |

This dog theory brings a whole new meaning to this song.

As for the Lucy/Molly conundrum, wasn't Lucy previously in an amazing early photo of the Manics where she revealed herself to be a yellow lab? |

Tree? TREE?! Okaaaaay Cause all trees mean more than love like. The search for truth may have stopped but the search for this 'tree' goes on

Dramatic update. I just watched the DVD. SKON is for dogs (and people you've lost) but I feel terrible because... Molly is alive and on the DVD (!) while Nicky explains this in the snow.

The iPlayer thing of the Jools show has subtitles? And it says it's "that tree meant more to you than life".
Also, that blonde backing singer really is annoying. Loves herself much? |

I've not thought about the meaning of the song too much, but thought it was kind of a sad emotional love song in a way, thinking back to a time in ones life, picturing someone laid on a beach or wherever in the sun and they're now gone for whatever reason from your life and you're alone and lonely. This is my take on the song personally and what goes through my mind when listening.
