Just thought this morning when I woke up with this in my head - it's about you know who.
Or is it? Especially the couplet, The truth means more to you than love / It's still there but baby you're gone. Some of the rest of it too. All alone forever. Your future glories all empty of thought. Am I reading too much into this? |

We weren't taught "English with a JDB accent" at school so I'm totally useless at guessing the lyrics, but wow, now that I read them, it's such a sad song!
I hate it when I go all "aww poor Nicky", but.... awwww, Nicky. |

I think I'm gonna cry now that I read those comments about "who" inspired this song

I'm pretty sure it's "There's beauty doing nothing at all".

There's beauty doing nothing at all. Probably my favourite lyric on this album.

There was a screen on the floor next to Ian's mic with the lyrics on them credits-style that you could only see from my section of the audience. At first I thought James had just caved and resorted to that to remember all the songs...
The sky is falling in on you Crushed any happiness you knew That tree meant more to you than love It's still there but baby you're gone Remember you, stretched out in the sun All alone forever, conclusions forgone Will you find some kind of nothingness Still and lonely like an old school photograph Laid yourself out under the stars Some peace at last so dont be sad A fitting end to your end But baby death's your only friend Remember you, stretched out in the sun All alone forever, confusions forgone Will you find some kind of nothingness Still and lonely like an old school photograph Your furture glories all empty of thoughts This beauty doing nothing at all It's what you wanted, it's what you got Your final search for truth has stopped This beauty doing nothing at all Never stop Never stop Never stop Never stop Never Remember you, stretched out in the sun All alone forever, conclusions forgone Will you find some kind of nothingness Still and lonely like an old school photograph It was the tree line I hadn't got. |

So the line really is 'A fitting end to your end'. It's actually written as 'A fitting end to your "end"'. Do the quotation marks make it any better?
Does an end need a fitting end or just to be fitting? Is a fitting end already enough information? Or do we need to be told this fitting end came at the end? This lyric will bother me senseless when the song comes out as a single. And you can tell Mac did his best to disguise that second end with his vocal. |
