Can't get overly excited by this, feels far too soon to be cashing in with a re-release. But anyway. Kinda disappointed they didn't try and get some of the great No Manifesto live footage on the dvd, given how unsupportive of that project they seemed to be.

Both editions are now 18.35 on Amazon.

Another track that would of been nice to see on this release was the untitled instrumental that was put on the official site towards to end of the SATT era. I think that Donkey acoustic version and Girl from Tiger Bay may of also been put up around that time, though they would be a bit more out of place.

Might just be we're all getting older... 10 year editions for THB and EMG felt like so much longer than this does to me.

Me too , it probably is that, but I don't know. Lifeblood came and went, and those two seem like such seminal albums, this just seems like cashing in. Maybe I'm just bitter at a lack of anything tour or album wise for truth, the album i want to see in full. I suppose it is nice to have all the bsides on one disc, these are by far my favourite collection of bsides.

I'm still bummed they couldn't do something with No Manifesto, I know there's lots of footage of live music...glasto seems boring.

I totally get what you mean, but I suppose in their defence they seemed to give the impression of feeling very reinvigorated by YLAINE and SATT's success, so maybe they just see it as more important album than maybe some of us do (and I never disliked SATT at all, but as you say it's not seminal in the same way as THB and EMG are, I guess even they would agree with that though).

As for Lifeblood... meh, what can be said, it is the Maggie Simpson of the band's oeuvre, the medal-less Chewbacca in Star Wars, standing next to its pals wondering how come those others get all the credit. Made-up manics fact: the working title for Lifeblood was 'Chopped Liver'. As in 'What am I? Chopped liver?' Yes Lifeblood, yes you are chopped liver.

I'm happy with the release personally apart from the Glasto appearence. I have a brilliant gig of one of the european festivals they did that year on DVD somewhere.

If it's taken up a notch, I'd be interested to hear it and it'd be great to see it played live.
Thats really interesting and yeah it would be fascinating if they did a 'take the skinheads bowling' update to it. The thing i hate about Deadzone is the completely lacklustre opening. Everything from the bridge onwards is great but getting through that first verse is really painful. Perhaps that wasnt the bit that was unfinished but a proper intro would go a long way to fixing that song for me.

No, No Manifesto had lots of gig footage. Yes I'm sure they would have had to somehow pay, but i bet it's much more exciting than glasto.

As an aside, wasn't most of the gig footage from No Manifesto from the PPF tour with a smattering of SATT stuff? If not, excuse my fading memory

I think all the SATT era footage was of album recording sessions.

There was quite a few festivals recorded then that could of been included instead of Glastonbury; Vital, Reading and a German one which I forget the name of (Rockplast?). The German one had about 5 SATT songs. I suspect that Sony has a Deal with BBC and/or Glastonbury so it could of been the most economic to include.

The Vital set is one of my more frequented latter years Manics shows if I'm feeling nostalgic. Proper rip-roaring effort that one!
