Festival Appearences 2017
Given that the festivals that the Manics have anounced so far are all pretty family friendly, can we infer that we have another Send Away The Tigers / Postcards From A Young Man MOR soft rock album on our hands?

That doesn't seem too far-fetched, given the fact that they were going on about "big riffs". And JDB has apparently been listening to a lot of ELO..? I can't say that this seems to bode well as far as I am concerned, but then, they may well throw a curveball and surprise us with something great. But I am not holding my breath.
Generally speaking, I find the selection of festivals announced so far a bit astonishing and underwhelming. Is that the crowd they cater for and I have a totally different, non-existent band in my head that I listen to? Some of the smaller indie ones last year seemed cool enough, but it all tastes a bit of one step from turning on the Xmas lights in Sodof-upon-Cack. Well, an Eisteddfodd of course is a different matter and fits in with their new Cool-Cymru-attitude.

Which ones have been announced other than the Eisteddfod?
As it happens, that date is on the third day of Glastonbury... rumour mill

That Carfest thing? To me that sounds awful, but then, I am a dreadful snob. I like my rock'n'roll to be, oh, dunno? kind of, not what plays in the background at Asda, nursery school, and on Radio 2? Anti-establishment, sort of? More like, Led Zep, , danger, sex, Gunners, well, anything that scares people, or what about a bit of prog, puzzling folks, a bit us versus them? It appears as if rock'n'roll does indeed supply convenience these days. Ah, well, maybe I just need to grow up or move on. Or all the cool stuff is yet to be announced, of course!

There'll be more stuff. Remember how we all got duped into thinking they'd only play Cardiff Castle and Swansea?

Very funny. Although, I'd say your hunch might be correct. I got a distinctive whiff of Radio 2 land after SATT. They have strongly appealed to that audience for roughly 10 years now. I remember turning up at the Llandudno gig for Postcards and anyone having a decent crack was looked upon with disdain by the R2'ers. I spotted far fewer of them on THB tour. Now I think of it, I don't know what was worse...... Mondeo Man was a pain in the arse, but at least he was up for a decent night out. You'd think the Radio 2 crowd were in a bloody library!
