Boo! They did do it for The Killers' Maida Vale gig, as I remember it being on the BBC site when you applied for tickets and it pissed a lot of non-local fans off, but I couldn't see anything like that for the Manics so it probably doesn't apply.

I just hope this isn't their 'all the holy bible tracks' gig. That, coupled with rough trade would be pretty unfair.

The over-subscribing thing is standard practice for BBC recordings as well. It's to ensure they get full audiences, as there will no doubt be some people who don't turn up.

Its unfair but for a free event I guess those living locally are more likely to turn up. People enter without being sure they can go

I've entered, I live in Somerset but can definitely go, so I hope they do give out tickets country wide. I won a radio 1 completion years ago to meet Manics at Maida Vale, when Lifeblood was launched... Fingers crossed this time. Xxx

I've applied but wouldn't go now that I see getting a ticket doesn't mean you actually get in! Travel, accomodation and time off work would make it far too expensive if it turned out to be for nothing

I dunno though; if you've made the effort to travel from afar, you're more likely to make sure you do get there, than compared to say someone who lives/works a short tube-ride away and only applied because it was round the corner, rather than because they're that bothered about going. If I lived in London I'd apply for a lot more stuff like this purely because it was convenient to attend, compared to the way I try to limit my expenditure to stuff that I'm a big fan of.

I've been to a few BBC events and only once been turned away due to having already made up the numbers. I don't think it's a real concern with stuff like this.

The same people can come and say they're queueing up from 6AM if they want...

Assume you won't win; if you do it's a bonus. It won't be the only THB gig this year, or the best one.

I love how in the press / on Twitter / here it's gone from "a Q&A session with the Manics" to "a Q&A session with the Manics, featuring some HB tracks" to "Manics HB session with additional Q&A" to "full on Manics HB gig"

we all know it'll just going to be that acoustic-y version of Faster wheeled out again, Sean sat with his box, etc.

my prediction:

Faster
Revol
This Is Yesterday
PCP
ADFL because they're contractually obliged to play it at every radio appearance ever

I'd kill my dad to hear Faster as I've never heard it live after 20 bloody gigs.

Anyway, does anyone know if they usually just send an email or they actually call you?

In my experience it's always been e-tickets by e-mail. Last time I applied and failed to get Cabin Pressure tickets they even e-mailed to say I hadn't been successful, which was jolly nice of them

Cool, cos I recently had issues with my simcard and I don't know how long it'll take before they fix it.

They did indeed, but that was my first Manics gig, I was too busy trying not to wet my pants to actually pay attention to what was going on

Aah but that's you.. many people are very fickle or enter things not expecting to win Also i guess they don't want a load of people winning having to travel miles and then train delays due to the wrong kind of rain or something? OR maybe they're just all bastards and want to annoy people
I never win these things btw and i do live in london

What the fuck are you on about? They opened with Faster at the Leeds gig this year, and you were stood right next to me. And also the O2 gig, so you've heard it twice.
