True, but he did, and that's what makes the difference. I can't imagine his family being very pleased if they saw that...Richey at the time might have loved it.

Richey missing or Richey here, I don't think it matters. They're using an image of someone who is clearly manifesting their problems (yes, I know, there are arguments that he did it for publicity, but whatever the reasons for it he was hardly in sound mind when he made that choice was he?) and they are turning someone's pain into a publicity gimick. Yes, Rich happily used the image to publicise MSP but at the end of the day it was his fucking image, his fucking blood and his fucking band. (Oooh, I swore. That makes my point more valid y'know). But what on Earth has Richey got to do with this band other than them both being Welsh? I'd have more respect for them if they'd used a picture of Tom Jones and written "Harbour - not for cunts" or something on his head. In sperm. At least that would have been "creative" and new.

Sorry about this, I've been in the office by myself all day and am relishing the chance to rant.

I sincerely doubt they mean to offend. And we can't second guess what Richey would have thought so let's not do that.

I wonder if that photo is under copyright by either the NME or Tom Sheehan who took the pic. I think it was him anyway. The Manics have used pics of icons illegally for the sleeve of the first version of YLU so they can hardly be that bothered or complain. Edit: UEF just beat me to it!

I dont see any ethical problem in using an image of Richey. I wonder how many dissenters on here have or have had a Che Guevara T-shirt or poster? What Im getting at is that Richey now exists as a mythical figure in the world of rock completely detached from the actual real life Richard Edwards that Nick Jones, James Dean Bradfield, or Sean Moore knew.

From an artistic point of view, just talking about the image itself, its a decent idea but looks a bit shit.

yeah, that's my problem with it too.
Not as bad as those Richey shirts with the really basic design on it, with the 4real in red. That looks like a child designed it.

I don't think there's a problem using the image, I think it's just the fact it's pretty tacky and a bit insensitive that's the problem.
