I had ‘Songs in the Key of X: Music from and Inspired by the X-Files’ and because it was before I had internet access I owned it for I think probably half a decade before knowing about the extra track 0. The truth was out there!

That’s got to be the best (worst) answer! I hope it comes unstuck ASAP!

Generation Terrorists: Repeat (Stars and Stripes)
Gold Against The Soul: Symphony of Tourette
The Holy Bible: She Is Suffering
Everything Must Go: Australia
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours: S.Y.M.M.
Know Your Enemy: Intravenous Agnostic
Lifeblood: Emily
Send Away The Tigers: Imperial Bodybags
Journal For Plague Lovers: This Joke Sport Severed
Postcards From A Young Man: The Descent
Rewind The Film: Anthem For A Lost Cause
Futurology: Black Square
Resistance Is Futile: Vivian
The Ultra Vivid Lament: Into The Waves of Love

The Great Western: Bad Boys and Painkillers
I Killed The Zeitgeist: Kimono Rock
Even In Exile: There'll Come A War

This was a really interesting exercise. It was strangely very easy to pick for my top five or six albums (L, THB, Journal, RTF, Truth, though Futurology was a struggle), I have to say there's something really appealing about the idea that I can love these records THIS much when they have such glaring mis-steps. My mid-range albums were all really tough to choose for, because those albums seem to generally be the most consistent to my mind, and for my bottom albums I was spoilt for choice (honestly, for RIF it could have been any of 9 or 10 tracks, but Vivian won for that godawful chorus and the fact that I always turn the record off midway through that song... for all I know I might really love side two of that album but I'll never hear it). The solos were tough too, and I have to say I don't actually dislike any of them (and I'm quite fond of many of my choices for the mainline albums too).

Oh no, there goes my spell of not saying anything negative.

Choices:

Repeat (UK)
Drug Drug Druggy
This is Yesterday
Interiors
SYMM
Miss Europa Disco Dancer
Empty Souls
Underdogs
William’s Last Words
Hazleton Avenue
Anthem for a Lost Cause
Sex Power Love & Money
Liverpool Revisited
Still Snowing in Sapporo

Reasons:

Manages to appear on the album after its own remix. You snooze, you lose.

Just for ABCDE, I suppose.

Nicky was even pining for the good old days back in the days that he now pines for. But I don’t dislike it.

As above, tough album to be placed in the spot where you can usually expect to find filler. I don’t dislike this one either.

This one I do dislike. A song that questions its own existence and admits it’s not really been thought through very well.

Not because it’s a disco song but because it’s a disco song that mocks disco. ‘Braindead motherfuckers’ has got to go for KYE20.

Compares the feeling of standing in the cold waiting to be picked up to 9/11. Oh my.

Underdogs is Underdogs. Even they ended up sending it to the corner to sit and think about what it did.

The misappropriation of Richey’s lyrics lets the side down here.

The Making Of DVD with Nicky singing Lenny Kravitz’s It Ain’t Over while JDB is in the studio recording it sealed its fate.

A Manics-by-numbers song on an album where that stands out more than ever.

There might be an album on which this could work but Futurology wasn’t it.

Even Liverpool fans don’t like this song.

A song about Nicky putting together the GATS reissue, basically.

I think we can put a full stop on Manics discourse because there's never going to be anything as brilliant as that.

I find this quite hard to do, so it's gonna be my notes about why it's hard to do

Generation Terrorists: Good time to say I've never listened to all of GT? Man, I should do that -- today! Great idea.
Gold Against The Soul: Symphony of Tourette (Drug Drug and Nostalgic Pushhead both have moments in the sound or lyrics I like)
The Holy Bible: Revol maybe? Not really. There are no weak tracks on THB, She is Suffering is absolutely amazing, btw, especially the chilling US version intro, you guys are SO WRONG!
Everything Must Go: Australia is not a very strong song for me. Australia is not a cool place to dream of escaping too, it's silly. This one was rather easy.
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours: There are no weak links on TIMTTMY. It really tests my patience, but never fails to reward it.
Know Your Enemy: Baby Elian's the one song I'd have liked not to make the cut. This was somewhat easy.
Lifeblood: C'mon. Dude. No. There are no weak ones on Lifeblood. Emily, Always Never, Fragments -- all impressive pop rockers with celestial sound.
Send Away The Tigers: There are so many weak links on this one -- it's a conceptual album about weak links -- it's hard to choose one. But Autumnsong sucks most for me.
Journal For Plague Lovers: Not my favourite album in any way but it doesn't have a weak link on it.
Postcards From A Young Man: Uhm... only Golden Platitudes and The Future Has Been Here 4 Ever are not weak. Hard to say what's the weakest. Hazelton Avenue, Descent and All We Make are extra not-good.
Rewind The Film: Song For A Lost Cause is the weak link here, definitely.
Futurology: Sex, Power, Money, Love. Not awful but definitely the weak link. From here on the Manics purposefully feature a weak one in the list.
Resistance Is Futile: Broken Algorithms or Liverpool Revisited. (LR has that gorgeous a capella part so it's BR)
The Ultra Vivid Lament: It's not the weakest weak weak link but Don't Let The Night Divide Us has all the hallmarks of a latter day Manics weak song.

There. Man, I don't like saying manics songs aren't good. It's like showing people derpy pictures of your cat or something. But this did get me listening to GT. Pretty damn cool album actually! Motorcycle Emptiness is incredible in the tracklist. You Love Us also lands way harder than on its own. The opening three is not very strong here, but ME, YLY and Love's Sweet Exile (which I've always loved) are a mega strong three... oh god and then LBN as the next one? What a run!

Double emoji shocked.
There are certainly some gems besides the big tracks you may have missed.
