Make a playlist for someone who has never heard of the Manics
I know this is quite similair to the dad playlist thread, but if you had a friend/colleague who never heard of the Manics, what 10 or so songs would you feature on the playlist?
1. Motorcycle Emptiness 2.You Love Us 3. If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next 4. Faster 5. Roses In the Hospital 6. Peeled Apples 7. Ocean Spray 8. Your Love Alone is Not Enough 9. Some Kind Of Nothingness 10. Revol |

I was thinking of this the other day, partially inspired by a thread on the Drowned in Sound board; looking across all 10 albums, the opening track of each pretty much sums up every phase the band's been through, and would work pretty well as a chronological and stylistic introduction to the band for a complete newbie;
1. Slash n burn 2. Sleepflower 3. Yes 4. Elvis Impersonator 5. The Everlasting 6. Found That Soul 7. 1985 8. Send Away The Tigers 9. Peeled Apples 10. It's Not War ...even flows pretty well as a mix too, the right shifts in faster / slower tracks.

01 1985 02 If You Tolerate This 03 Theme From Mash 04 You Love Us 05 Faster 06 Motorcycle Emptiness 07 Australia 08 This Is Yesterday 09 A Design For Life 10 Can't Take My Eyes Off You tried to get the "right balance" in covering as much of the Manic rainbow as possible in ten tracks, but leaving the door open to go ahead and discover the many, many joys in the rest of the catalogue if they like those 10.

True. It should have gone in place of Drive-In Saturday, which was really just a token Bowie track I threw in without thinking. Bah, how was I to know anyone would bother to pay attention?

If it's any comfort you got me thinking "What track sounds like Drive-In Saturday?"

Well, except that one of the new ones is meant to be Song For Guy. Would anyone care to enlighten me? Particularly 1, 4, 8 and 10, as I feel I should be able to guess them (if I'm perfectly honest, I'm not familiar enough with the others to make a guess)
