Facebook page - ADFL to number one.

I came across this Facebook page a few days ago where I posted it into the 'Libraries gave us power' thread: http://www.facebook.com/librariesgaveuspower?sk=info

It would be great if the single finally achieved the position it deserves, especially how it has been constantly quoted in the media over recent months. Comments?

Facebook groups are so pathetic. Got a cause? Back it by buying an old song in the hope of getting it in a chart that nobody cares about (apart from Nicky). Every bloody time.

It appears to have it's heart in the right place - but as with buying T shirts/bags with slogans on, buying them will not save libraries. Every christmas I get upset that Fairtale of New York goes through this same process and just because it didn't get to number one doesn't means it is not a National favourite. I think it's a lovely idea but I wouldn't buy the single again, it's in the Nations awareness from the amount its being quoted at the moment, so leave it be and go and actively support your local library instead.

You should start a Facebook campaign page to stop Facebook campaign pages and ... oh no, wait I didn't think that through...

Really unlikely it will work. I don't know why people bother with this kind of thing. I won't be buying it again.

these campaigns really don't move me at all, am I made of stone... Plus if you wanted to save libraries why line the Manics/Sony's pockets-donate money to some book charity/library fund etc. It won't get to number one and all that money will have been wasted downloading for a failure of a campaign, and nobody wants to see that do they

I'm pretty sure you're going to need at least a hundred thousand people to get it to No 1 safely...*checks FB page* Oh, all of 717 likes.

*raises both thumbs* Good Luck Facebookers!

I'd only buy it if it was bundled with some new acoustic/live tracks.

But no no no, fuck it I'm going into another rant that I'm repeating from the last time someone tried to get a Manics song to number one. Design For Life peaked at number 2. It's a number 2 FUCKING RECORD and I am not having any cunts trying to rewrite chart history! It can't be a retrospect number one! That's shite! It didn't sell enough first time round so tough! How are pop discographers in the future going to cope with this absurd state of affairs- it can't even be classified as a re-issue! This is why I hate this download shite! Everyone just fuck off with your campaigns!!! why are people trying to wreck the charts- they're bad enough as it is, stop confusing things!

you can tell I may be slightly bored, but my point still stands

Return of the Mack is an iconic song! And Mark Morrison is a pillar of society!

Haha-no I'm sure EMG sold more than Mark's album, so really it means that it all worked out in the end

What good would sending A Design For Life to #1 do for libraries anyway?
