It's all about quality control also. 20 great songs and 50 filler will be diabolical.

Personally I'll be more than happy as long as James (yes you James) keep singing.
I'm quite happy for them to do 70 songs and to really push themselves to do something unusual and wonderful and not worry about commercial recognition or rediculous chart success. James and Sean can write some amazing pieces of music and if Nicky want to his lyrics are beautiful and can really hit the mark. I'm more worried about the repeated comments about James not singing, using different singers and him being bored with his own voice!! For me James could sing the phone book and it would still be something I'd want to listen to. Someone needs to give the guy some confidence. I'm just interested in finding out what they actually write and release next and a big change of direction wouldn't worry me at all. I think it might be good for them. (But James has got to be the bands vocalist)

If the guest singers were part of an album that had different roles then it might work. I'd take a concept album over a different vocalist showcase.

Nah, I think James's just generally tired [who can blame him?].

70 songs is fine, but if we split the right and left stereo channels into separate tracks we could have a 140-track album in mono. Even if the economy recovers a bit by then, that's going to be a really great value proposition, and so should sell millions of copies.

and Sean leaving his wife to set up home with one of the Jedwards is more likely than the Manics making a good 70-song album.

I generally mean and I should have been more clear but those two songs actually have some cool production values.

Just forget it.
I'm sure Nicky is a very nice guy and is certainly a terrific songwriter but 99% of what he says is complete bollocks. |

Well, for me, 2002 - 2011, the manics have done some of their strongest work with a few near misses such as SATT, LB, etc.
