when you think about it, if Judge Yr'self had been released then that would have been excellent, for that would have meant that Richey had not disappeared.....

that said, it would have also meant the band were forever associated with a mediocre Stallone film that, if i remember, also upset the fans of the comic / graphic novel a little bit.

Went for Nobody Loved You because it's miles better than the actual singles from TIMT.

cardiff afterlife would have been a better choice than TLORN

the descent (pages 1 & 2) has a big radio potential also

They took out all the humour! All signs are pointing to the new Judge Dredd film making exactly the same mistake too.

Agree on 'The Descent' having single potential. The dingles are my biggest problem with PFAYM.

I really, really want to say 'Yes', but there's a very special place in my heart for 'Patrick Bateman'. Even if it would have struggled to make the top 40!

Not sure what whoever-it-was meant by the Manics facing a large legal bill - who would've sued them?

I'd like to say Yes or 1985, but I think Judge Yr'self would've been the best choice.

Of the options listed, 1985.

I think Yes would have been a really daft choice. You might as well have renamed it 'Fun You Melonfarmer'.

I'm guessing they meant fines for obscenity- and I dunno how it would go over in the UK, but if that had been released in the US, even with certain words cut out, several "family" organisations would have thrown unbelievable temper tantrums because of the overall theme.

Yes is probably my absolute favourite Manics song, but I can't imagine it being radio friendly, so I voted for Judge Yr'self.

Same, except I voted for The Girl Who Wanted To Be God. I'm surprised that barely anyone's said it... cracking song which I reckon would've done pretty well. Yes is obviously an incredibly powerful and brilliant song but the subject matter explains why it never was a single...

Definitely 1985 should have been the lead single, and would have been if, rumours are right, that Sony didn't step in and want Richard Nixon to coincide with the U.S. election. Lifeblood would have probably done better too. Then with that success we could have had more Lifeblood singles.

Forever Delayed should have definitely been the lead single for the album, definitely. One of my favourite Manics songs.

Sadly it would have had to overcome the Coldplay juggernaut either way.

1985 obviously.

Yes would have been a disaster. It's a really great song, but the censoring would've made it ridiculous. You can get a taster for it from the radio session version on the THB re-release, it really harms the song. We'd deride it even more than 'falling like dying flowers' or RO-SEEES IN THEE-EEE HOOOSPIIITAAAL.

There was a Jackie Collins promo floating around and was listed on some sites as a future single release with a date too.
