‘You Love Us. Manic Street Preachers In Photographs 1991-2001’ by Tom Sheehan

The latest in the series of books from the archives of legendary music photographer Tom Sheehan, features his extensive work with one of the most important and successful UK bands of the last quarter century and welsh rock icons, Manic Street Preachers.

Over a 10 year period between 1991-2001, the book covers the early days of the band, through the worldwide successes of albums ‘Everything Must Go’ (1996) and ‘This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours’ (1998), up to the infamous 2001 gig at The Karl Marx Theatre, Havana, Cuba, where the band become the first popular western rock band to play in the country, shortly before the release of their 6thAlbum, ‘Know Your Enemy.’

Tom Sheehan, recalling his work with the band says “The Manic’s arrived fully formed, with a mission, older than their years and more knowledgeable than most. Who does a double album as their first release! The Manics … brave stuff indeed and continuing to be brave to this day"

Additionally, the book will include a foreword written by Nicky Wire, with essays written by Sylvia Patterson, acclaimed music journalist and author of the COSTA shortlisted memoir ‘I’m Not With The Band’ (BBC Radio 1 Annie Nightingale Book Of The Year 2016) who has interviewed the Manic’s throughout her career for Smash Hits, NME and Q Magazine.
  • Strictly limited to 2500 copies
  • Foreword by Nicky Wire
  • Essays by Sylvia Patterson
  • Approx. 200 pages with many unseen images
  • 3mm rigid board slipcase

Is there any difference between ordering it from Flood or the Pledge?

Seems cheaper with the former. But do you get more ordering it direct?

The difference is shipping. If you order from the gallery you have the option to go and collect it from them. They're in Greenwich market in London

Thank you ms Pyke

However the Super deluxe, and deluxe edition are ridiculously priced. It wasn't like this 20 years ago.

I'll get this eventually. I hope it's a bit better than the last photo book of the Manics from a few years ago, Assassinated Beauty. I have it next to me right now and looking through it... there's loads of fully blank pages or only half a page used up, which is a waste. And don't get me started on Wire's crappy polaroids book, man alive! That is the worst thing I've ever spent money on!

Actually, I just checked the price of it. I don't think I'll be getting this!

I couldn't resist... so here is a teaser of the Super Deluxe...

Photos of a book of Photos. I shall now take a photo of this forum thread.

Click photos to 'enbiggen', if you like.

Unboxing! So shiny.

The light caught it here and looked polarised. That's clever that on a photography book, that is

Front of actual book out of slipcase.

Back of actual book out of slipcase.

Inside front cover with attached envelope which contains the extra 3 separate photographs.

I like the book itself very much (though I won't be happy if I see this in The Works (or equivalent) for a fiver by Christmas!).

You can get the standard (confusingly 'Deluxe' as opposed to 'Super-Deluxe'!) version of this for £20 (rather than £48) at the moment:

Your post has made me picture the band going to a pulping plant wearing Google's, hard hat, florescent jacket and ear muffs as they go to see the unsold copies pulled.
Just Alan Partridge Manics crossover.

I haven't read the text properly yet, but this is really nice. Good quality, and I love the more candid shots from famous shoots such as the Karl Marx monument. JBD always makes me smile!

I've just received mine this week.
I'm really happy 'cos I can see my {pretty} face on three of four pictures in it; including the cover.
