I don't think it does. These NME polls always seem to be permanently open.

I understand that Beethoven's influence on all genres of music is undeniable, but including him in this list when he died hundreds of years ago? How on earth can people be 'missing' him in the same sense as missing someone like Richey? It just seems like NME's attempting to prove its (non-existent) broad taste in music. He just seems very odd, chucked in there amongst musicians who have died during the latter half of this century

You're completely right. When he gets a cover feature I'll take their Beethoven love-in seriously.

This poll will close eventually and Richey can win so keep voting.

I agree, it's pretty strange to include Beethoven really...

Voted for Richey of course. But... he's only at number 9.... gotta keep on voting...

I think thecurrent top three are HUGE artists on a different plateau to the rest 1.Cobain 2. Lennon and 3.Hendrix (though i personally would reverse the order of this and omit Cobain probably for Strummer) Richey is #4 right now so for him to come in after these three is none too shabby thing. This list just reminds me of the such high percentage of rock stras who die young, very very disturbing.

Yep, I agree with you on the top three...boot Cobain and insert Strummer. Mind you, I'd personally have Barrett or Harrison in the top three rather than Hendrix even though he had a huge influence on both.

However, as much as I adore Richey, let's be honest - do any of us really believe he'd be that far ahead if it weren't for the lovely people here doing him a solid by voting several times in his favour? LOL!

Dropped to 2 but not too shabby. Although I agree that there are maybe some more deserving people who should probably win, it would be nice if Richey won especially as they didn't do anything on him. And anyway, I love Richey most.
