I think Lady Lazarus is an excellent blend of Nicky and James' vocals. Nick keeps it quite soft on that song rather than trying too hard and that seems to suit his voice better I feel. Hope he improves in the second half of Future!

No, Pritchard gives true mark to the Kooks.

To be fair, I didn't skip Nicky's song on album, not even once. He doesn't have the best voice out there, but one track on the album wont do any harm. I like the song, actually. Now that I've heard album more than 10 times, I just can't imagine James singing The Future Has Been Here 4 Ever. And I'd like to see Nicky singing it live on future concerts.

Voted that he shoudn't sing on album tracks...sorry Nicky lovers. But he's got the B-Sides all to himself as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't mind, for one. I love the b-sides.

I'm firmly in the 'keep it to the b-sides' camp too.

To me, Nicky's speaking voice is indeed heaven distilled, so warm and crisp, like melted chocolate...aah...so, it follows I would be interested in hearing his "singing" as well. It's more of a talk-sing, but I would say he has also improved vastly over the years, there's a marked difference for instance in his vocals on the JFPL demos compared to IKTZ.

Why are there only two options? Sometimes I think it's alright. The chorus of Watsville Blues works for me (though the verses *shudder*). Wouldn't listen to a whole album though.

I do feel slightly short-changed when he sings a Manics song though, purely because James could have been singing it.

He shouldn't sing at all, not on album tracks or b-sides

Feel exactly the same!

I personally don't think William's Last Words would have the same effect on me if James had sung it. Same with Wattsville Blues and Bangkok Novotel.

I do like his speaking voice, that is why I'm a fan of Failure Bound, I don't mind his singing that much, but after listening to say...five or six of his solo tracks in a row I start to get a mini headache

Maybe he should have a go then we'd find out?

Nicky's sighing is not something I hate. In fact, I very much enjoyed his solo work and his vocal on Bangkok Novotel is surprisingly enjoyable to listen to.
