I don't mind the occasional lead vocal from the Wire, in all its ragged glory.

I reckon Nickys singing on this track is passable - it works. Partly because he basically only sings lead vocal on the two verses. And the style of song suits his voice. It's a really good song. He should never sing again though. I could understand it more if the Manics were on the of those bands with a merely decent front man, but that is clearly not the case.

Hopefully in 10 years we will get an album of songs originally sung by Nicky, sung by James. That would make up for it somewhat!

please try to see the long term picture - Nicky singing on the album = Nicky singing on tour. this allows James time to go and have a smoke, shag a groupie or two, polish his beloved amp, have a pint and a crafty look at some porn.

anyone who is for Nicky being banned from singing is against James.

If Nicky's voice is of an angel, then I'd like to hear the devils.

I like his singing voice but I think it's such a waste not to let James sing everything. What a voice James has.

I think The Future Has Been Here 4Ever would be a tremendous song if singed by JDB.

Well, I'm sure X Factor fans would suddenly find obscure Bob Dylan album tracks equally tremendous if they were crooned by Joe McElderry, but that's missing the point entirely.

Poor Nicky, your voice gets a thumbs up from me provided you don't overdo it.

I voted 'yes' with a view to thinking 'enough is enough'. Williams Last Words was lovely because it was poignant. It was fitting that Richey's closest friend should sign his last album off. The Future Has Been Here 4 Ever on the other hand? Don't see the point in his voice on that record. I don't understand why the producers, James and Sean keep letting him sing when all would admit, even him, that it's not his strong point. Is it that Manicsy sense of humour rearing its ugly head again? The one that thinks releasing singles with long titles off of albums with long titles is funny?
Weirdly though, I do agree with the idea that having another voice on the record is good for breaking up the monotony that would ensue otherwise. Although it's true that James has one of the best voices in the business today look at Queen, home to possibly THE greatest voice rock music has ever known and yet he didn't sing on all the songs on any of their Seventies albums. Brian May and Roger Taylor sung some or all of their own songs until post-Greatest Hits. But then they, especially Taylor, could sing.
With the Manics my biggest question is always 'Why Nicky?' I realise that the one person holding back on letting the sticksman sing is Sean himself, who apparently 'hasn't the ego' to sing even on a b-side. But he's got a great voice and is a pretty musical man. I really don't see why he can't just suck it up and sing lead vocals a little bit. Then Nicky's vocals wouldn't seem so pointless either.
