I wasn't being serious, hun. You can laugh at whatever you like. But now that you mention what your true intensions were with that remark, I actually didn't put the two together because it's McCartney, not Lennon...guilt by association, I guess.

James doesn't sing that line anymore correct? I should imagine opening for McCartney would not be the best place to revive it either.

Unhappy

This is awful, I hate it! They shouldn't be supporting that drab old humourless cretin. Surely Wales prefers the Manics, can't they fill it themselves? What clever dick thought this one up? The only hope is it pisses Richey off so much that he gets the ferry back to the UK to sort them out - "You're ruining my legacy you bloody bastards!". Tell me it's an April fool's; the jape of the decade - Noooooooooooooooo!!! I don't want leftovers!

It will only be like 20-30 minute slot i think.

Tickets are so so limited, Cardiff Gumtree people have a few for £200+
I would assume longer than that, probably 30-45 mins....tickets are still on sale on tm, no?

Hah. If I could afford this my love of Manics would force me sit to through a Macca gig. I won't applaud...Although walking out after the support probably hasn't happened to him for a while.

Probably the same set as the CoM Foo's gig a few years ago. Although IHOE wouldn't go amiss.

I don't think I could handle this, if I had a chance to go. Too emotional for me. Manics - absolutely the band of my life. The Beatles - the ubergods in my rock pantheon, (just above the Manics), and the influence for at least half of everything I've ever done, liked, seen, heard, and become, since they first came to America when I was 3. Including the Manics.
McCartney is opening our new arena in August. I'm going to try to go. The only time I've seen him, in 1990 (the last time he was here), I cried throughout the show, and I was literally a babbling idiot to my mother when I got home: "Mama, I saw a Beatle!" "Mama, he played Beatle songs!". Her: "Shh, you'll wake your grandmother". Me: "But, Mama, I saw a BEATLE!!" Over and over...
Besides, the Manics and McCartney are the only two acts I wouldn't want to see with anyone else I really liked. I wouldn't want to be distracted by someone else. I would want those nights to be all about them.

This is by far my least favorite thing the Manics have ever done. I am so not cool with this on every conceivable level. Just saying.

Aye. As I can't afford that Spanish festival, think I'll wait until September.

James doesn't sing that line anymore correct? I should imagine opening for McCartney would not be the best place to revive it either.
Correct.

I just thought that line was generally to The Beatles and Lennon as the symbol. you know, considering their influence to the music, in the late 80ies/early 90ties the main influence for the Manics was the Guns and The Clash and I always thought they were questioning the other rock history, you know, as the influence. or was it only Lennon as the symbol of massive pop culture star?

but, indeed I've never read any negative comment about The Beatles, even in the early days, later James met Yoko, right? and it was quite friendly meet-up, y/y?
