Why we should love Lifeblood for being the least Manics Manics album... After Truth they'd been given the freedom to do what they wanted & pretty much messed up with KYE. Then Lifeblood saw them pressured to come up with an album that would sell as much as Truth. Even the artwork lacks Nicky's input and was left to some marketing agency. Trips to the US for Tony Visconti to produce didn't quite work out and they completed it in the UK without him. Though Lifeblood's relative commercial failure did teach the label to let them deal with image and recordings themselves. So maybe we do have Lifeblood to thank for giving the Manics back to the Manics. Had Lifeblood been successful then they probably wouldn't have been able to do what they are doing now and would probably be Coldplay.
