When adding these to your mp3s on your phone do you count these as genuine album tracks - or do you just keep them on your hard drive as a curio?

They get added to the latest edition of my chronological series of DIY Manics b-sides & rarities compilations.

I’m waiting until my Japanese version of the album arrives, popcorn gets stuck in my teeth too easily these days. But I’m encouraged by what I’m reading.

I won't link but someone has put them on youtube so get 'em while they're fresh before content id strikes. Both lovely tracks especially my drowning world, flint is right it's loaded with pathos but they're both wistful tracks. I think i would happily put my drowning world on the album and i've never been a big fan of most of the nicky sung album tracks.

Just listened on YouTube and enjoyed both very much. Nickys track in particular should have made the album.

One of my top picks from RiF was 'The Left Behind', wonderful. Who knew Nicky sang tracks would be so damn good.

Would everyone hate me if I said I got the Japanese Deluxe today… ?
Love both tracks. My Drowning World was much better than I expected, These Dark Roads about as great as I hoped.

Not a popcorn sharer, sorry, so save your PMs. Are they still on YouTube?

Have some lyrics though (surprisingly accurate-looking in the Japanese booklet this time round, though the outro stanza (last three lines) of MDW wasn’t included so I added that. TDR has slight changes in final chorus that are not printed in booklet, so I added those here too):

MY DROWNING WORLD

I WANTED TO BE A FAILURE
TO LIVE IN THE RUINS OF MY OWN LIFE
TO SURF ON THE WAVES OF NOTHINGNESS

MY SECRET LANGUAGE STILL WITH ME
THE COAL DUST STILL SAT ON MY LUNGS
MY MOTHER A LONG LOST DISTANT GHOST

OH THE GLORY OF MY DROWNING WORLD
ALL THE MARRIAGES DIARIES AND THE HURT
THE ICE IN THE VEINS THE FEELING SO SWEET
IT’S THE RITUAL THAT I INTEND TO REPEAT-TO REPEAT

MY FATHER’S ANGER STILL RAGING
OVERWHELMED BY A MILLION WORDS
NONE OF WHICH I WROTE ALL OF WHICH I LEARNED

HYMNS OF MY YOUTH STILL CALL ME
MORE THAN A HAMLET MORE THAN A LEAR
BORED BY THE SCRIPTS BORED BY SHAKESPEARE

OH THE FOLLY OF MY DROWNING WORLD
ALL THE MARRIAGES DIAMONDS AND THE HURT
THE ICE IN THE VEINS THE FEELING SO SWEET
IT’S THE RITUAL THAT I INTEND TO REPEAT-TO REPEAT

ENDING MY SELF-DESTRUCTION
NEVER WORKED ON SAINT DAVID’S DAY
THE ONLY PRINCIPLE I EVER OBEYED

————————————————————————

THESE DARK ROADS

MY HEAD WON’T REST
A LOOP OF MY OWN MAKING
MY PRIDE TAKES A FALL
BUT WILL NOT BE FORSAKEN
MY EVERY LIVING MOMENT
SEEMS THERE FOR THE TAKING
IN THESE DARK ROADS
THERE’S A LETTER TO BE WRITTEN

TO THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL RETURN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS THERE’S EVERYTHING I’VE LEARNED
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE’LL BE FORGIVEN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL BE DELIVERED
IN THESE DARK ROADS WE’LL BE FORGIVEN
IN THESE DARK ROADS IN THESE DARK ROADS

HERE I AM LICKING MY WOUNDS AGAIN
BUT THE HEALING TAKES LONGER THIS TIME MY FRIEND
THE HIGH CATHEDRALS OF EVIL I FACE
AS EMPTY AS THE BULLSHIT THEY REPLACE

TO THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL RETURN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS THERE’S EVERYTHING I’VE LEARNED
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE’LL BE FORGIVEN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL BE DELIVERED
IN THESE DARK ROADS WE’LL BE FORGIVEN
IN THESE DARK ROADS IN THESE DARK ROADS

TO THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL RETURN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS THERE’S EVERYTHING I’VE LEARNED
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE’VE BEEN FORGIVEN
FROM THESE DARK ROADS WE WILL BE DELIVERED
IN THESE DARK ROADS WE’VE BEEN DELIVERED

FROM THESE DARK ROADS IN THESE DARK ROADS

—————————————————————

And some pictures with mini Porco?

Hello… HE LTRA IVID AMENT (actually quite nice, Obi-strip/wrap-around made to look semi-transparent, but just printed that way).

With ‘Mega Jacket’ bonus! (Print of the album cover. Nice enough). Trying to go for a swim mini Porco? Nope, doesn’t work, it’s only a picture.

Oooh, soft plastic sleeves and a Japanese interview/lyrics booklet, nyom nyom nyom, tasty high quality Japanese products…

This really is a classic Wire lyric, reading it in black and white. He's been churning out a lot of these self-critical, misanthropic yet hopelessly nostalgic lyrics since RtF and just when I thought he had ran out of things to say in that regard, he throws in this (and parts of TUVL too).
