Well it was nice to wake up to. Completely forgotten it was coming. First few listens it's ok. Orwellian is more instant. Huge Saatchi and Saatchi 80's ad music for Home Insurance and Portfolios flashbacks!

Song is definitely better with the video but the first two singles off this album don't give me the same excitement that International Blue and Distant Colours did.

James’ disheveled appearance makes him look like a Jim Henson creation.

Great song, clever accompanying video (happy now? are you? tsk). I love the dirty 70s bass and sean's on it. I've no idea where they pull the melodies for the choruses from. We are very lucky fans

I’m going to repeat my post from the album thread, because I think knowing the backstory to the subject matter can really elevate the enjoyment of the song and video (did for me anyway).

If anyone wants to know more about the subject matter of The Secret He Had Missed (Gwen John and Augustus John) this video is well worth a look:

(Note: contains some nudity, just in case that matters to anyone, e.g. watching on a work computer!)

Are there any artists out there who haven't inspired Wire to write a song that can be interpreted as a (sub)conscious lyric about Richey?

Another nice tune. Nice to see a more traditional/less abstract video. Loving Jimbo's 'need to be out of here by three to head down to the bookies' look.

Like it. It’s way better than Orwellian.

Thought I recognised it but that’s because it’s one of the clearer songs from the trailer video.

I'd quite like to hear how it sounds without the piano in it. Hopefully the demo version is stripped back and has it removed.

One play of the video so far - loved it. Loved the guys in the video, even Sean's dodgy eyebrow piercing haha. James' hair looks messy but cool at the same time. Really like the music, so fresh and happy and so much going on with the piano and guitar. I'll definitely be playing this all night on Spotify
The female vocals also sound like one of the women from Abba too. I definitely get the Abba vibes and Queen too which someone mentioned. Hope it gets more airplay than Orwellian and people actually know they have new music out!

"Okay Wire, we're down to the last of the budget for the video. With what remains, we can either get a stylist in for Jimbo, or we can get a mirror ball. Which is it?"

It must be that time again huh? New track day.

I really really like this, definite lifeblood vibes that makes me think the band are finally softening on their attitude to that album. The piano is so abba that it makes me think they just swiped it from one of their songs i can't name. Their voices go very nicely together as well and given the subject matter makes perfect sense so i'm fine with it but just don't overdo it, i think two is quite enough.
