Thanks for the link
I was hoping they'd do a bit more with the song, but it's not bad. It would have been good if the music was a bit heavier and louder to balance the vocal. It is always good though to have another song by the band |

I'd...wait for it to pop up on You Tube. But it's a Manics cover. It sounds like the Manics. (I'm thinking production wise it's like their cover of "Rock'n'Roll Music")
And at least James didn't decide to do a "Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be... Mick Jagger!". He still sounds unmistakeably James. But wow, that voice is going to be so fucked this December tour! |

The Manics have never done a lousy cover.

I'd say Umbrella was a bit of a misstep.

Umbrella was really good live.

Off the top of my head
Velocity Girl Wrote For Luck Been a Son (I love the song, this wheezy claustrophobic version is unlistenable) Working Class Hero This Is the Day |

The only manics covers I don't like are the songs that never did anything for me in their original form: been a son, didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?, the dire Amy Winehouse one.
Start Me Up falls into that category, sadly. Never liked the stones. |

My least favourite actual cover would probably be Velocity Girl. Favourite being We Are All Bourgeois Now. They've done some pretty great covers over the years.

Yeah their hit-rate is pretty high, but a song which is based around a riff like this... I mean, it was only ever going to be a pretty direct cover, and pretty direct covers tend to be fairly worthless.

A throwaway cover but enjoyable. It's marginally better than This Is The Day.
