1) Don't feel like you need to get a feather boa...

2) Join a forum- you'll make lots of friends. (I went from Stay Beautiful (older folks, is that still going?) to FD and even though I'm not as prolific as I once was, I still come back!

3) Lifeblood takes a while to get into.

1) You are fucked, my friend
2) Prepare to spend a lot of money
3) Prepare to be forever miserable for living across the ocean in Brazil while the band is going on tour in every hole in Europe and Asia

1. You will never ever again find a band that'll mean as much to you. Don't even try find any. This is once in a life time.
2. Enjoy the ride, be proud, stay beautiful.
3. If you ever get a degree, don't mention it all the time

1) Don't.
2) You'll never get out of it alive.
3) Can't think of a third one.

1. Remember that band you saw on Snub TV? Yeah, the one you wrote off as Clash copyists and laughed at their homemade t-shirts? They'll be a band who will be with you for decades and who you will love forever. Go and start seeing them earlier!
2. It won't all be good but stick with it. When you've written them off as stadium rock, they will come back and surprise you.
3. When they announce three gigs at the Astoria go and see all of them, not just the first and last.

1. You will listen to and love the holy bible. Accept there will never be another album like it. Just be glad that the album exists.

2. Remember the Manics are 'just a a band' - a band who got you into lots of really cool things, and who helped shaped you, but they are just a band !

3. At the height of your manics obsession you will insist that the manics are the only band worth listening to - in retrospect you will realise this is silly, and that here is a whole world of literature and art out there for you to explore

1) Take everything Nicky Wire says with a pinch of salt

2) Don't let sections of their fans bother you too much

3) Don't spend £80 on the Postcards shoe box, give it a few weeks and they'll be half price on eBay

Fixed that for you, agree 100% now (always listen to JDB, or even better, Sean, aka the non-bullshit Manic)

Aye, that's more like it. Still, my favourite Wire claims were that Lifeblood was The Holy Bible for 30-year-olds and Know Your Enemy whilst not their best album, was one of the best albums ever.

I love a lot of what people have said on this thread. There are only 2 people I know who get this band out of very many. Embrace that.

I think the reason is that MSP are so good is that they somehow have managed to make us all gush so much over them. They have a sublime musical catalog. How can any reasonably intelligent individual not like this band? I am a total dumbass and alcoholic and I can see their glory.

1. Don't get so upset about TIMTTMY not sounding as good as the previous albums. It gets better, and you'll get over it.

2. Buy Lifeblood as soon as it comes out. And start going to Manics gigs again. Save yourself the regret of a five-year gap of not seeing them simply because they made a couple of albums that didn't blow your mind.

3. Accept the fact that of the three of you who were Manics-obsessed best friends in the mid '90s, you're the only one who will still love them by the time you're 25. But fear not, when you're in your 30s they'll tour THB in full and suddenly your old mates will crawl out of the woodwork desperate to see them again...
