Well, they've got quite a repertoire of cover songs, the ones I especially like in Manics' versions are... Charles Windsor, absolutely, energetic and lively and hard core and makes me wanna pogo. Can't Take My Eyes Off You, it's simply pleasant hearing James crying out loud words like "I love you baby". Fairy Tale of New York, that one is just cute.

I might come back with more.
fairytale of new york was out of tune

can't take my eyes off you is brilliant however

still cant decide on my 2 +3

Love Can't Take My Eye's Off You, particularly the Millennium gig version,

Was always quite fond of Been A Son. And i guess We Are All Bourgeois Now makes up the 3.

I like James's cover of 'The Summer Wind', but then I love Sinatra and that big band sound. I'd love him to do a cover of 'When I was 17'

Agree. But I find that out of tune thing kinda charming, to be honest. Yep, I'm weird.

Songs to add:

Yeah, Red Sleeping Beauty and We're All Bourgeois Now sound great in Manics version, but that's too much covers of the same band.
Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel - Not really a cover, if it's a traditional song, but since it wasn't originally written by the Manics, I'd list it here anyway.

Not to be controversial but I think all of their covers are pretty shit except for the obvious Suicide is Painless.

Last Christmas is seared in my memory I loved it so much. I remember just staring at the telly, i'd never been to a manics gig so didn't know about his acoustic interludes.

For me their best cover is Suicide is Painless.. so good I forget it's a cover
not sure about 2 +3 yet
The version on the Lipstick Traces CD has been remastered from a worn cassette single.

I forgot about "Wake Up Alone", that's a great one, too....and "primitive Painters".
Too hard to choose just 3.

Sorry.
But you know, feminine is the default form in a Manic place.
