Even the NT gig at the London O2 was a bit meh and that's only 20,000. I prefer sound quality and intimacy to spectacle. I don't want to spend 5-10 minutes trying to find a toilet and then politely trying to pass in front of people to get back to my friends.
I also thought the NT show was a bit of a disappointment - they failed to carry the material to an audience of that size. People I spoke to at the Roundhouse last December, many of whom had seats at the NT show, all spoke of how much better it was seeing the band in this more intimate venue.

At least all the cool people won't be busy watching One Direction this time.

No Thanks

I also felt the NT Gig was not all that, the gig in January at Brixton on the Saturday was much better.

As much as it pains me, I'll be sitting this one out:

Swansea's a dump.
Cardiff Castle was full of the worst kind of pissheads Manics gigs in Wales can attract, and given the material this gig will comprise of, I doubt it'll be any different. Probably worse if anything, with more twats with flags.
Outdoor gigs. I don't get on with them.

If they announce a warmup tour, I'll do that instead.

Travelodge in Swansea is currently £54 for saturday night, £61 with breakfast. Can't beat that.

B-sides AND rarities AND curios AND a few brand new songs in addition to eight album tracks in the first set? Maybe they could play So Dead at the end and dedicate it to the crowd.

Outdoor gigs I have felt in the past 12 yrs are a major miss, too many idiots, fights, thefts & unprovoked attacks even.

It was changing much more in 2009 especially whoever went to Blur in Hyde Park. My last outdoor gig was Radiohead in June 2008 & trust me had it not been for the ticket price I would have walked out after 25 mins. I could not wait to leave.

This gig will attract the same crowd or worse which is such a shame because people forget the crowd make the gig as much as band.

They need new blood to come along from time to time, you can't just keep going with the diminishing circle of the same old miserablists coming to every gig.

Having just seen that it will take around 7 hours to travel by train from Glasgow to Swansea, i'm rapidly falling out of love with the notion of going.

I very much doubt they'll play "new" songs. I very much intend to go spoiler free for whatever they do next.

Unfortunately I won't be EverythingMustGoing, nothing against Swansea. Would be nice if they rustled up a couple of camcorders for this one.

That's the biggest load of cock-teasing that the Manics are now famous for to keep the old fans interested. It'll be one B-side (prob Mr. Carbohydrate acoustic), one rarity (pick an fan fav album track: Sleepflower? Ready for Drowning? Marlon JD?) and curios (something odd but easy for Wire to play).

We all know now it's a load of bollocks.

NME honoured the Manics with 'Album of the Year',
Did they? Didn't Beck's "Odelay" win the album of the year, or was that Melody Maker?
