Nothing Left To Talk About is what SATT should have been called.

Always liked St Etienne but a Sarah Cracknell solo album is a tough sell in 2015. God bless Spotify and YouTube.

Flint's point about the way Nicky's voice often complements others' is important. There are plenty of everyone's favourite Manics' songs where the vocal component consists of Nicky on backing vocals, and no one's complained.

One of the reasons I love Lady Lazarus so much is that it plays with that expectation: Nicky on lead vocals and James on backing vocals, but the wonderul contrast of their two voices is still there and works brilliantly.
In fact, I said it before and I say it again. I wish James and Nicky recorded actual duets...

Could be lyrics, as he did for the JDB solo album and The Lightning Seeds. I can imagine him doing random little bursts of vocals like he does in It's Not War and Four Lonely Roads.

'Red Kite' is the much-anticipated new solo album by Saint Etienne's lead singer Sarah Cracknell. It's fanfared by new single 'Nothing Left To Talk About', a duet with guest vocalist Nicky Wire of the Manic Street Preachers

Just been played on 6music Rad Mac. It'll be on the iPlayer later. Around 25 minutes in.

Sounded pretty good.

Kind of Bunnymen via George Harrison.

Yeah, they really did. He gave it that Echo & The Bunnymen feel I got off of it.

Yeah, quite nice. Very what I would call ' talky-singing', (ironically, given the title).

Aye it's a simply, cosy, lovely little poppy country-rock thing, and Wire's vocal works on it perfectly. Who'd have thought it? He actually sounds more natural on it than Sarah! (Plus: manages to stay in tune, which helps.)

There's also something oddly familiar about parts of the melody - anyone else agree and have any idea what it sounds like?

Could just be me but some of it reminded me a little of Bad Boys and Painkillers, just a little.

I don't like it; the song or Wire's contribution to it.
