Bloody hell, a bit strong perhaps? Fan site poll, not clinical study.

I think you need to look at the individual charts a bit closer, a lot of the participants had at least one song from each album in their chart, but the ones that finished consistently high and therefore were placed higher overall tended to be the older songs. I was fully expecting that to be honest and I think the final chart wouldn't change drastically whether you had 60 or 6000 participants. As other people have said it was only meant to be a bit of fun among like-minded people!!

I think the list is very good, it's what I would expect from "ordinary" Manics fans like me. If the ones from this forum would make a list it would be statistically worse, even if twice as many people would participate. Simply because here on the forum are those who are still the biggest fans which means that they over-appreciate the newer stuff, otherwise they weren't here. And there are some really strange opinions here: What's this "Stole" bashing? It's (together with NLY) the best song on TIMT, the only one that has a bit of life in it. What about Lifeblood? Nobody likes it except the people on this forum. IMO you can only like Lifeblood if you hate the Manics (and you can only like RTF if you hate not only the Manics but music in general).
I just made my personal top 50, and there is nothing from Lifeblood or RTF in it, 2 from TIMT, and nothing from Postcards. But I had 61 im the list first, and there were 4 from Postcards between 50 and 60. That's another mystery to me: If you swallow Lifeblood or RTF, why do you hate Postcards or even SATT which are both far superior? TIMT, Lifeblood, and RTF are sleeping pills compared to SATT and Postcards. I simply don't understand it.

I have no idea how to post here being new but i must emphasise that the top 50 was just for fun and not major statistical evidence. Everyone was interested in each others choices having chatted for a while over a common bond
I love Lifeblood, I love Rewind the Film , in fact I love all the albums, some songs more than others.
To say you can only like Lifeblood if you hate the Manics is infantile .
To have a chart that contains no Lifeblood songs is fine .

True, but I couldn't resist. I just wanted to defend that list which is much closer to my personal taste than what can be read here.

I would have to add that I personally really like Lifeblood, but in terms of a chart there are a lot of songs that I like more.

I am going to add an area on the blog for top 50s which people worked on after the main chart was compiled as they still make for interesting reading, so Lancashire Potter are you happy for me to add yours when I do this?

lists are never going to please everyone but they always make interesting reading. I would expect GT, the GATS singles and EMG, Truth songs to feature pretty highly. My favourite albums are THB JFPL Lifeblood, EMG and RTF. When you listen to the manics so much you get so used to the older singles, radio always playing them, that you forget how brilliant they really are.

Never leave the compilation of a best of to die hard fans. They'd never sell any copies
