First time to Wolverhampton tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a pub that does decent food?

The Hogshead has just added a new grill menu and is pretty decent and cheap, landlord is a massive Manics fan too

I'd avoid both the Varsity and the Whetherspoons (The Moon Under Water) for food though as both have recently been shut down for rats… They are open now but my own derogation is to steer clear for a while!

Thanks for the warning, I'll cross the Wetherspoons off my list!

They're not even near each other I did used to work in the Asda in wolves and they had barriers at the back doors to stop the rats coming in! Is there still chickens over the road from Asda & the Goalposts? Is the Royal London still going? And the Wanderer? They used to do great chip butties and in the summer the did a barbeque and everyone used to sit outside. We're going to have such a fun day tomorrow going round our old haunts. We were talking earlier and PCD reckons he's been in every bit of the Civic, mainly from wandering around drunk on club nights! It's also where we almost had a first kiss! But that's a different story for a different night

I'm eating in Yate's wine bar as its fairly cheap, plus its the nearest to the Civic, at least I think it is Yate's, does it look like a Weatherspoons inside?? I've been going in this pub before gigs for years and just realised I don't know the actual name of it!!

I was speaking to a local today, and he recommends the Yates's round the corner, so I guess that must be the same one. Also, it could be a contender for breakfast the following morning.

Yates' is on the corner near the Civic Hall as far as I can remember.

Can't wait until the gig. our train gets to Wolves at ten past four and we'll either be going to our hotel or then straight to the gig. I'll be the one all THB'd up, trying to fashion my stubborn dreadlocks into some kind of 'style', come say hi. Looking forward to meeting folk.

Fingers crossed for gems like Of Walking Abortion and Landslide. I'm so excited.

My tip for defeating the 'Doors Of Doom' is arrive at 6.59pm and head for the shortest queue. Bingo!

What's all this "doors of doom" stuff anyway? Only been to the place twice and I've no idea what you're on about!
