King Tuts, Glasgow 18th February 2010 - Gig Thread
Soooo, there's a gig on in Glasgow soon!
Anyone willing and able to text the setlist to someone on here on the night? Please PM me, Finn or Takk and we can get that sorted. Also, everyone going must take nice pictures. PS This thread will be kept on topic so if you wander off I'll sort you out, proper Glasgae style.

Well done and good luck to all those that got tickets.
It'll be wonderful but probably another greatest hits set, albeit in a fantastic venue. |

Is there any more info on it being just them as a three piece? Songs like ADFL might suffer a bit.

I'm really hoping that they play a set list that includes a couple of unexpected songs. Or maybe they'll preview something new? Although it might be a bit soon for that.

I'm expecting quite a lot of older stuff if they're just a 3 piece and it's a one-off gig. Probably a lot from the first 3 records - you couldn't play a lot of EMG and TIMTTMY without keyboards for the strings. Good times!

I wouldn't hold my breath...They can do backing tracks, the earlier stuff needs extra guitars.

I can't imagine them playing over backing tracks for the whole of a song really. A lot of the older stuff can be played as a 3 piece, the whole of THB pretty much, a lot of GATS and GT. I think there will be quite a lot of JFPL played as well.

Yeah, but I don't think they play the newer stuff because they have backing, they play it because they want to, and because in some cases they don't remember the older stuff. So unless they are doing a tour, I doubt they will bother rehearsing a lot of stuff they may not have played for years, but we will see.

Certainly i'm not expecting the 100% normal set list if they're playing as a 3 piece anyway. Might be nonsense and they'll have a keyboard in the corner anyway.

Haven't they played three piece at hits shows or something recently and done the standard hits at least?

Have they ever played material they're currently working on live before they commit it to record? They've never struck me as the kind of band who does this, which is a shame.

Yeah they do, but not a lot.
They played Everything Will Be at Glasto in 2003, they played Solitude Sometimes Is and Empty Souls at IOW in 2004, before lifeblood. They played a couple of songs (think Autumnsong and I am Just A Patsy) in 2006, before Send Away The Tigers. |

They should play the same set they did last time they played King Tuts it would be symmetrical, but short. EDIT: Can't believe I forgot IoW I used to be able to remember this stuff. Last edited by Amanda; 27-01-2010 at 18:54. |

Ok, great! Thanks guys! I'm really glad to hear that they've previewed new songs on occassion - I admire bands who have the forsight to give their fans an idea of what they're currently working on...it's good for both the fans as well as the band, IMO.
I doubt they'll do it at this upcoming show however, but hey, it would be quite a treat if they did. |
