Socialism

I'm not sure if this has already been posted as its quite old news but we couldn't think of seeing it anywhere (though I'm pretty sure I've seen the Nicky picture that goes with it in Appreciation).

Anyway, we thought we probably ought to mention it just in case as its worth checking out. But if its already got a thread then feel free to delete this one.

Basically though Socialism is the free magazine from Heavenly and Issue 3 contains a discussion between Nicky and Jeremy Deller taking in art, music, politics, premium bonds and Andy Warhol grabbing your balls.

You can get a copy in several ways:

http://www.heavenly100.com/news.php?id=1520923

Its a really interesting piece though as its obviously a lot wider in scope than you get in your usual music mag article, plus its sort of Nicky doing the interviewing which is a different perspective (although he does still manage to come out with a couple of things I'm not entirely convinced about).

Like I said though sorry if its already been posted.

Wow, sounds great. I'd love to read it but I just calculated that with bank charges of $15 to get 2 quid cash, & having to drive 65 miles to the nearest city to even find a bank that *has* UKP, it would cost me about $35, so I guess not. Appreciate your letting us know though! Hope someone who manages to get it can clue us in, or better yet, scan??

It would be great if you could scan the interview in for people who can't get a copy - as it's a free magazine there is no copyright issue beyond naming the paper/author.

p.s - I notice you often write as 'we' - who is the 'we' you are refering to?

Basically thats right actually, most posts are in the singular if they're just my opinion, but important subjects need to be discussed first, well everything needs to be discussed in minutiae detail but not everything requires being posted about.

As for scanning it in, I can scan it but I'd need some help getting it online as its eight A4 pages and I've not got any way of hosting that kinda sized thing.

But I guess it makes sense for people overseas to scan it so am happy to send it to anyone who can get it online.

Although anyone who can should still order it as then you get the actual magazine and I still get far more excited about real things (its the old argument whereby fanzines will always be better than websites as although theres some really good ones and it does get accross to a wider audience nothing beats having an actual tangible thing someones created).

Plus the rest of the magazine is worth getting for guerilla knitting alone.

Okay, that might be the easiest way but if anyone has a better idea I've got a copy scanned in and sitting on my desktop, its amazing what you can get done when you should be doing something else.

And in my defence apparently more people fail due to being overprepared and therefore going in with preconceptions than anything else so revision may be bad for me.

I've read that. Nicky is delightfully pretentious in it, and reinforces everything that people hate about him
