Just a theory here as well as something I was thinking about last night... Spotify only seems to have the deluxe edition of Rif. If you only played the main album without the extras, then would it still count as a whole album stream in terms of sales? If not, that would surely put them at a huge disadvantage when it comes to streaming. Still we should be pleased with them achieving the number 1 physical sales positions, especially from a band on their 13th album. Takes a lot more love and passion to part with your hard earned cash or to make your way to a record shop than it does to just casually press a button and hear some free music...

Maybe my theory is true... How else could an album at Number 2, by a well loved band, in its debut week only be at 72 on the streaming chart?

How deep will the second week fall?
Lisa Stansfield, respected name. Album out before GT. Falls from 16 placing to 92 in that official chart.
I hope it makes a second week in the top ten. That's all I got. Couldn't afford another copy.
Could only get the standard at that!

The trend this year for artists on their level is to go the way of Lifeblood. Straight out of the top 40 on week 2 and gone altogether by week 3.

So if they manage two weeks in the top 40 and three in the top 100, they’ll be doing better than the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Editors.

Eels just went from entering at 10 to 98. The Damned ended up making it to a respectable 7th but they’ll be nowhere to be seen next week.

By the time the next album comes out, the album chart will have gone the way of the singles one.
